Well… I’m really impressed. These projects are really comprehensive and we need to run to build our camera. We purchase plans that include two PDFs: construction drawings and details that give the big picture so we can submit our local build, as well as piece-by-piece plans that provide shop drawings for pre-fabrication of all parts. My wife and I did a little woodworking in the DIY workshop using small pieces (4x4s and 2x4s for trim) to simulate heavy wood in mortise and tenon fabrication and frame assembly. For the big one, we wanted to buy an actual plan that we could build our house on. Everything is needed here, but tools, wood and friendly staff. Thank you for helping us raise the level of our game and prepare for the next level.
First, these plans are very temporary. With the right material and contractor, it can be great. But this is not a DIYer. We think it should be clear that the wood for this construction is not readily available in most places (certainly not at Lowes or Home Depot), and has to be ordered from a specialty lumber yard. . The omission of this point seems a bit intentional to me to make DIYers aware of improving designs that are not actually workable. 20 foot lengths of 8×10″ douglas fir lumber are not easy to find or cheap (I found a price online of $43.37/linear foot = $867.40 x 2 = $1734.80). I didn’t care about the rest of the price but 21 more lumber was needed to complete the build just north of $6k in materials.
I was waiting for this to be mailed so it could be printed and I didn’t order it to be done now I can’t be told a right copy to get my money back.

I designed this pergola so that you can build a nice shaded area to relax in your garden in the evening. This pergola is easy to build and has a sturdy structure. Be sure to read local building manuals before starting construction to meet legal requirements. You can add your own personal touch by choosing the design of the rafters, as well as the spacing of the upper panels.

I recommend investing in the best things you can. Therefore, you should buy water-resistant wood such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the parts to the required measurement. Drill pilot holes for the channel before attaching the components with wood screws to prevent the wood from splitting. See all my premium plans here.
First you need to cut the pergola parts. Make sure you measure twice and cut once. Pay attention to the cutting lines and look at the work done with the miter.
Next, you need to build a garden pergola. So, use wires and shake boards to put posts. Measure the diameter and adjust the adjustments until they are even. And you have to apply the 3-4-5 rule to each of the four corners, so make them straight.
You can place 6 × 6 posts in concrete or you can support reinforcements and place them on anchors. Dig holes 2-3′ deep and 14′ in diameter, then compact a layer of gravel at the bottom. Attach 12-inch pipes and place 6 × 6 posts (or fit anchors). Use equal care to straighten the runners and fix them for a while. Pour concrete into tube forms and let dry for several days.

In my case remember that the projects are designed by locking the anchors to the posts. If you want to embed posts in concrete, add 3′ to all posts.
Using radius support and shadow elements from drawing information. Marked line cutting for beams and circular saws. Sand the edges with sandpaper. It should be understood that parts are made of different materials.
Attach the support beams to the bracket runners to keep them tight. Make sure you use a level for the vertical posts and check that the bars are perfectly horizontal. Drill pilot holes through the 6 × 6 posts and through the beams. Add 9″ carriage bolts (two per joint) and close everything securely. Make sure the beams are level and the corners are square.
The next step in the project is to construct the 2 × 8 beams for the pergola as shown in the diagram. Leave 12″ overhangs on both sides of the joists. Clamp the beam to the posts, drill pilot holes and add 9-inch carriage brackets.

Use 6/6 diameter wood. Use a miter saw to cut the clips at 45 degrees on both sides.
Suitable for pergola as shown in diagram. Drill pilot holes through the beams and insert 2 1/2″ screws to lock them in place. Drill pilot holes through the holes for the clips and insert 5 1/2″ screws into the posts. Before you put the clamps on, level the stocks with a spy-light.
Place suitable shade elements on top of the square pergola and distribute evenly. Drill pilot holes and insert screws to seal them tightly to support the studs. Alternatively, you should use tied bars for restraint
