So when I was left alone with the baby and my husband wasn’t at school, I started making plans and hitting the nails.

I started with a 10’x10′ mini platform, but once I realized how EASY it was, I couldn’t stop. There are jokes that my whole yard will be a deck before the next birthday party.

That’s all my woes/rays! They were placed on a concrete slab (which helped a lot with a solid foundation), but I needed posts in the two closest corners.

Thanks to my little helper (and the baby was there too! haha!). My husband came home for winter break and helped me make sure the deck was completely level before I hammered the posts into the concrete. I was a little nervous! At this point, I wanted extra hands.

Honestly, this may have been the only Lightning I ever put in my first deck. Back then I definitely preferred a hammer and nail. even using a screwdriver made me feel a little uncomfortable, so installing the decking boards was my husband’s job on deck 1. (Thanks honey!)
