16 X 40 Portable Building – Another 16×40 deluxe cabin was completed by The Backyard & Beyond. We had a lot of fun with this cabin due to some customization work on it. First, we used a coated cement slab on the base of the cabin’s exterior, which gave it the appearance of a stone area and helped break up the floor. Look to the side. We finished the front with a white Dutch laptop and green trim and shutters. It’s hard to see in the photo, but the gables on each end of the cabin have white Cedar Cove vinyl shingles. We blew the insulation into the roof before covering it with metal roofing.
Our standard windows are 24′ x 36″ in size, but on this cabin we have updated to 36″ x 60″ which allows more light to enter naturally and gives it the feel of a room. In the attic the windows are 14″ x 21″. We built 3 frame living rooms on the roof, the rooms are for the ground floor which is built above the bedroom and the bathroom. Dormers are an option and can be placed anywhere you want. We built three rows in a row. Also available is a double dormer with side windows.
16 X 40 Portable Building
The interior of this deluxe room is insulated with blown insulation. We also install water systems for bathrooms, kitchens, toilets, washing machines and dryers. We connected it to many receivers, interior and exterior lighting, ceiling fans and lamps in the basement. All appliances and electrical are covered with drywall. We installed an escalator to access the basement. It slides out for use and can slide against the wall when not in use. The bedrooms in this cabin are 10ft x 15ft with a 7ft x 10ft bathroom.

Once installed, your build will be constrained and anchored. In order to receive the building classification, you need to have a minimum clearance of the width of the building + 1 foot on each side. Example: A 10′ wide building will require a clearance of at least 12′ wide.
