He worked 2 to 3 hours a day for a week, restoring the brown walls and red-orange bricks with white and gray paint, giving the fireplace a cleaner, more modern look.

He began by wiping the excess dirt and dust from the surface of the brick with a damp cloth, and cleaning the cracks and seams with a brush. Then he covered the entire wall of the oven with a sealed white paper. Sneha bought two different shades of gray and applied them on the side, the grout lines were definitely white. He found that he could get four shades of gray by two lighter or heavier colors. When the walls are painted a solid gray, the fireplace looks ultra-modern perfect, and the technique is so successful that Sneha incorporates it into the brickwork of her house. “Every time I see her, I think, ‘Wow, Sneha, you did a great job,’” she said.

If you’ve been following along for the past few weeks, you’ll know that I’ve been a guest contributor to the 2020 Resource Room Challenge (aka ORC).
If you are not familiar with ORC, designers and bloggers try to completely redo a room in their house in 6 weeks. This time, due to the complex issues of renewal and the renewal period, the ORC extended the schedule by 8 weeks instead of 6 weeks.
This means that over the next 8 weeks I will be sharing with you the step-by-step process for building our home cellar. I am excited to have this area of our house cleaned, updated and decorated to become a truly cozy and welcoming space at home (and a place for the kids to hang out with their friends when they are allowed again!).
We started this project together with our base. I wasn’t sure which one to share with you first… since the schedules usually fit well, but I decided to focus on installing this week and then next week’s schedule. These two projects were very important in changing the overall feel of this space.

We also had the roof pitched and painted, and the whole house was painted a very soft gray – very similar to Benjamin Moore’s ‘Ly Grey’.
We started with the original brick oven that had burning wood inserted and is no longer used. We had the gas cap replaced, but that’s not in the current budget, so we decided to pull it off, strip it to the metal, and then clean and paint the inside. and painted by the hearth of a dark fire.
Then we first applied two coats of white paint to the brick. It’s a eros dui. Paint the brick… If I had thought ahead, I would have loved to use a sprayer (like this post) but unfortunately we started painting the ceiling and walls so late.
After the paint was completely dry, I painted the wooden pegs and a dark wood shade (chestnut) to match well with the dark vinyl flooring I chose for this room (see full inspiration board with sources here).

We made some special structural anchors to mount the pipes to the wooden bubbles and then sheathe them into the bubbles. It fits between the bricks at the sides of the fireplace, so that there is no need to join the brackets.
