Exterior Paint Colors For Brick Houses
The Benjamin Moore Classics are two of our favorite white paints. In fact, we named Benjamin Moore’s Seapearl our exterior paint color of the year. With an LRV of 77.95, it is Seapearl White. Simply White LRV is 91.7, so it’s much brighter. (Learn what LRV is and why it’s important, especially with white paint). Although the similar colors create a monochromatic color, the different shades beneath them provide a subtle contrast. Simply White (painted here on the trim) provides a warm glow that draws with the gray tones of Seapearl (painted on the brick).
House Exterior Paint Color Ideas
Alabaster from Sherwin Williams is an excellent choice for brick. This paint color reads on different textures, so it is a great choice for use on a variety of exterior materials. Our designers used alabaster in the brickwork, moldings and the image of the house above. When going this route, we recommend adding dimension and depth to a darker paint with accents like Sherwin Williams’ Tricorn Black. Tricorn Black is used on the garage doors and overhead door. Alabaster is not a strong white, nor is tricorn black black, so this is not a difficult chess-style black and white combination. The combination of brick and paint is modern and offers low drama.
This warm combination of brick and paint colors gives a sense of harmony to the facade of the house. Instead of serving as a point of contrast, the paint colors complement each other. The Olympic Mountains take center stage on the brickwork, Sandy Hook Gray adorns the fenders and fascia, and Simply White completes the look by highlighting the trim.
Brick houses with orange tile roofs look very cool and modern when the brick is painted beige or white. A unique roof like this should be the focal point of the exterior design, and the red brick can compete with it. One of our designer beige choices is Benjamin Moore’s Grant Beige. In this example, Sherwin Williams’ urban bronze accents add depth and bridge the gap between the light beige and the saturated color of the tile. (Urbane Bronze is one of our top Sherwin Williams exterior paint colors for 2021, largely because of its versatility.) Pro tip: Bronze or copper gutters and downspouts look great with clay tile and beige paint.

What Colors Go With An Orange Brick House?
If you are dealing with brick that has never been painted, you can try limewashing. This wonderful effect lends an old, historic feel to a home with exposed brick accents. In the house above, our designer suggested ROMABIO’s Classico lime washer. They make up the warm brick that shows through the warm undertones. And this home has some beautiful architectural elements to highlight with paint. Here, the designer recommended accents painted in Benjamin Moore’s Iron Mountain and Natural Choice and Porpoise, both by Sherwin Williams.
You don’t need our permission, but as you can see from our recommendations so far, we often recommend using Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore paints together in one design! Painted on properly prepared brick, both brands work beautifully. Seapearl looks especially beautiful in brick because the front bricks look white and the cracks between the bricks are gray, giving it a built-in dimension. In this home, painting all the brick-free siding in Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams and trim and accents by Benjamin Moore provide a rich, deep contrast to the onyx and bring out the gray tones of the Searle.
If you keep the natural red brick, a bold trim can give it a polished look. This is one of the best brick and paint color combinations in our book. In fact, many bricks naturally contain gray and beige stone, and the mortar often appears gray from a distance. Painting in Benjamin Moore’s Sandy Hook Gray will bring out the tones.
With a little paint, the mixed materials act as collaborators rather than competitors. This home has added brick, siding and natural stone; Nice materials all by themselves, but the color palette made it a bit overwhelming on the eyes. In this situation, the right combinations of brick and paint colors can make all the difference. By painting the brick in Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter, a neutral, our designers allowed the stone’s natural detail to emerge. Iron Mountain shake roofing gives the house more dimension; Notice how flat the facade is in the before photo compared to the next one? – and brings out the gray and blue of the stone. The onyx paint on the shutters adds a splash of contrast.
Best White Paint Colors For Brick Exteriors
Does this paint combination look familiar? It’s the same triplet as #8 above, but of course it’s very different when combined with the bare brick. Revere Pewter, Iron Mountain, and Onyx are three neutrals that work well. These paint colors help define a home’s architectural features without feeling too busy, even with a high-contrast red brick base and light mortar.
Pale brick or lime is not for everyone. If you want to update your brick with a cool white, alabaster is a great choice. Its warm beige tones help to play well with natural wood. This combination, along with the Marvin black windows, completely modernizes the look of this home.

Sometimes a project comes along and it stops me…but not always in a good way. My clients were planning to renovate their house and wanted to give it a fresh face with a new color. However, while they wanted to paint the cedar clapboard, they wanted to keep the colors of the existing trim, shutters, and front door.
