Paint For East Facing Rooms – It affects your perception. Natural light tends to vary in color and intensity from where it comes. If the beige that looked great in your last home is outdated or the gray you love looks too purple in your bedroom, it could be because you’re comparing rooms with different exposures.
In this article, I will teach you how natural light affects interior color (at least in the northern hemisphere). I’ve also included some tips for painting neutral colors in a room that sounds good. But before we get down to the details, let’s go over some important points when painting the interior…
Paint For East Facing Rooms
Always test the color in the space you intend to use before you start putting it on your walls and cutting! (Often on the 8″ x 10″ photo card is a guide for our Virtual Color Consultant clients.)
The Best White Paint Colors
Rooms with windows to the north are cooler and have a duller light. Even with lots of windows and lots of sunlight, the color of the light will still be on the cool side. This means that the coldest colors (blue, grey, green and some shades of white) can feel icier in the northern room. Painting the north cabinet in a warm color or even a warm center can set this cool effect.
Edgecomb Gray HC-173 is a nice cream gray for homeowners who want a lot of gray without feeling too cool.
Navajo White OC-95 light cream. The blue light in the north room becomes yellow in this color scheme, creating a beautiful balance.
Grant Beige HC-83 is a popular color, a cool gray with a hint of gray. It looks good in a well-lit location facing north.

A room with south-facing windows dilutes the warm, yellow color as the south moves forward. In the morning, these rooms can be dark, making the color in this area flat. If the room has a lot of light from south to south, cool tones or gray can help warm up the whole light. By using warm colors in this space, the visual warmth of the room will be more noticeable.
Balanced Beige SW 7037 is a beautiful warm taupe and one of my personal favourites. The combination of gray and brown makes it less rusty than traditional. It works well in a room that gets a lot of sunlight from a south-facing window.
Owl Owl OC-52 is a light grey, warm, without ice. Its color will be a little lighter in the room that will not have much direct light
Ballet White OC-9 is a light grey-white with a slightly warm undertone. This color can bring a lot of light and warmth to a space, but it can be too neutral for outdoor rooms that don’t get a lot of direct sunlight.

Rooms facing east (and west) are difficult to analyze because the light is less relevant. In the morning in the east room there is a soft light that is strong and a little warm. The sun rises, the light in the east room, and at noon, the color of the paint can light something. In the afternoon, rooms with windows facing east will look a little grayer and darker. These areas tend to work best with warm colors. The cold can be felt a little in the afternoon.
Macadamia SW 6142 is a soft neutral with a golden almond color that doesn’t fall flat in the afternoon.
Cream SW 7012 is one of the few whites that can do in the eastern part of the room. It warms the area without being too yellow.
Techno Gray SW 6170 is a warm greige. This color with some green will keep its warmth in the southern light of the room facing east.

The morning in the west room was darker. In the afternoon, the light gradually becomes warmer and stronger, increasing in intensity as the day progresses. Sunlit rooms work well with cool and warm colors, but remember that midday sun brings out the strength and depth of warm tones.
If you have many windows in the walls, you are dealing with a lot of exposure (ugh!) considering how much light the windows let in. Speaking of fuses, you want to focus on the main exposure in the room. The good news is that you’ll have a little more flexibility when it comes to your personal color preferences.
A room with a southwest exposure will have a warm, bright light in the afternoon, while a northeast exposure will have a cool gray light throughout the day. A room with an east-south window is usually soft and warm to the south during the day, in the bright morning, clearing a little in the afternoon, when the intensity of the southern sun is dissolved by exposure to the east. Rooms with northwest light tend to be cool and gray throughout the day, with some warm light in the afternoon.

Dr Dulux: The Best Shades For North, South, East Or West Facing Rooms
One of the most important things to consider when choosing paint colors is where you live. In the Pacific North where the weather is very gray, I like to paint them with warmth. Anything too cold feels – yes – cold during our harsh winters. The color that works well here is not necessary either
Another thing to consider when choosing color is the light in the room and the direction it is coming from. Using this general knowledge is meant to help guide you in the right direction for your color choices. Knowing when to go more saturated or lighter and then having a better idea of when to go warmer or cooler will help you figure out which shade of blue or gray or white to lean towards. You know when you paint a room you really have to change the walls. I like to start with a color that I think is close to what I want, then go into steps that are lighter and darker, or warmer and cooler, to see if there is a transfer on my walls. Every room’s lighting is different, so while all of these colors are good starting points, they won’t look the same in your room as they do in mine.
All that said, here’s a guide to understanding the lighting in your space and how it affects your color choices.
North: indirect, with cooler light during the day. To add a soft light, which can make the color dull, try warming the color tone. Saturated colors will appear darker and soft tones will be softer and duller.

This place can be very bright which changes a lot during the day. Keep in mind that whatever color you choose for this room must be dynamic. Dark colors appear and whites are too dark.
For rooms that face east and west, you want to think about the space in terms of what you’re going to use it for. Since the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, it causes the light to shine directly, but there is also a variety of disturbances all the time;
