Today, we’re taking a look at these new colors, focusing on the colors that work best with decor and cabinetry, and what works best with them.

Having said all that, these new whites come at a price (which we’ll get into below). And the price includes only these colors from the TOP white paint colors on the market, because otherwise they are very good.
When trying to find the best white color for your project, there are a few things you need to do before you start painting the walls…
Compare this white with other whites. Here is a list of the WHITEST whites for each brand.
Because the best way to choose a white paint color is to match! Don’t read the label or compare it to your white paper or your white feet (or is it just me?). Instead, do the above and make your white paint life choice much easier.

I also have OODLES of articles on how to choose the best white paint color and link to them all the time. I am also including the entire list at the end of this blog post because I love you.
The fact that these whites are only available in the Emerald series is one of the things that sets them apart from other whites. But that’s not bad, and I’ll tell you why.
The new Sherwin Williams Emerald collection is a high quality paint. And while the price reflects that; High quality paint usually = top notch results*, high quality paint often GOES further (up to 50+ square feet more coverage) and HIDES better (covers your old color). This can save you from needing 2-3
Or even buy an extra gallon of paint. Keep this in mind if you’re feeling a little sticker shock. I understand that if you are doing a big project or if you are on a budget, the price can be low, and I think that is the only thing that keeps these colors from being number one in this white world on the white. it is not available to anyone who wants to paint.
Best White Paint Colors For Any Home
GOOD QUESTION! Each paint color starts with a base that is in the can when you first pull it off the shelf. The base of this new white is whiter and cleaner. So while you get blue with Extra White and NEVER hide enough with the controversial High Reflective White, this white continues from scratch.
* I have not tried this paint yet. I am not paid for any of the paint color reviews on my site – no financial support, free product samples, or even a virtual high-five or free wine. That is why I offer my honesty, color knowledge, practical experience and research.
Since this is a NEW color and my E-Desain client has no way to use it/send pictures after, I don’t have a picture. However, I have information and knowledge that you will find. I’ll also reference other popular white paint colors from Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore to give you some great reference points.
BTW, I ranked these whites in order of flexibility and level of tension as they arrived at the finish line!
Our Favorite White Paint Colors — House Sprucing
WHITE TYPE: Snow White is not starkly hot or cold, and in the words of the end of The Great Golden Invitation, that’s just right. Okay, so maybe a very small serving hot, but negligible –
FALSE bottom: N/A. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any, it just means they’re so subtly warm that it’s not worth paying attention to the details.
Snow white is not loyal to warm or cool, so it is very flexible and suitable for warm or cold paint colors and MAYBE other whites as well.
Sherwin Williams High Reflective White is along the same lines and looks WHITE compared to Snow White. It also helps to show the slight warmth of the white snow…
Using Different Colors Of White Paint
I love this color and if it wasn’t for the price I would do it in a future lake house. I think it will be a popular choice for trim, cabinets, walls and exterior, maybe even in Sherwin Williams High Reflective White (which SW employees around the world are cheering for…long story).
In fact, if we can all swallow the price tag, I think White Snow could be the next big white.
I haven’t been this excited about a white since I opened my last bottle of Riesling (which means I was excited).
LRV: Cold Foam has an LRV of 84, so it’s a soft white – not really strong.
The Best White Exterior Paint Colors
Undertone, but still a subtle warmth. This means that it is not tied to a shadow, which is great. This reduced binding means that it is more flexible than white and, for example, the binding under yellow, which can be more reactive with some colors.
I don’t see any red flags in any color except those with higher chroma (intensity) which means they are more colorful than the family that owns the house. Otherwise, fill your shoes!
Cold Foam is like an updated Greek villa. If I love Greece Villa, I’m not trying to cause a fall, I’m just saying it’s even better than that. It has more warmth than Sherwin Williams Pure White and is very comparable to Sherwin Williams Alabaster.
Cold Foam has some GOOD things going for it, especially its MUTING heat. I think if LRV is about three points ahead, it would be PERFECT and take over Sherwin Williams Pure White as my GO-TO white paint.
The Best White Paint Colors For Trim
I’m pretty damn excited about the Cheviot. Cheviot is the hottest white paint color from Sherwin Williams and I can’t wait for one of our Online Paint Color Consultant customers to try it!
LRV: With LRV 89, Cheviot fills a gap in the Sherwin William white paint family that does not have a good white with this LRV (the next best are 86 and 93). This top-of-the-range LRV puts the Cheviot NEAR the bright end of things, but not quite in the “true white” range.
WHITE TYPE: Cheviot is a warm white. Sherwin Williams Alabaster is a popular soft warm white, while Cheviot has HIGH LRV, which gives us a whiter look without losing the warmth that some homes need.
BASIC RULES: To be warm white, it needs shades of yellow, orange or red. Cheviot has a yellow undertone and a bit of a lovely neutral to calm it down, so it looks deliciously smooth and creamy. Although the yellow/cream shade is more pronounced than the previous two colors, it is still quite soft.

The Cheviot is very flexible, although it is a little partial to warm colors. Cheviot can also be used with cool colors, as the warm tones of Cheviot interact with cool colors and bounce off each other. This can be a very nice combination, making the Cheviot look WINK yellow and cool in comparison.
It is interesting that the whites of Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore are not really CLOSED anymore. Cheviot is WHITE and WARM than Pure White (shown below) and softer/less true than High Reflect White. Again, take some of what Alabaster throws down, but lighter and cleaner to the touch.
I think the Cheviot, with its strong warmth, is a natural favorite whether you use warm or cool paint colors. This high LRV really sets it apart from the warmth of Sherwin Williams Alabaster and Benjamin Moore Cloud White.
Cotton is like a love child between Sherwin Williams Pure White (which is my favorite white of all time) and Sherwin Williams Alabaster. Not too hot, definitely not cold, and the LRV is EXCELLENT for homes that don’t produce white or true light. Let’s see it!
Best Sherwin Williams White Paint Color For Interior Trim (4 Great Choices)
As for cotton, while it has some color preferences and can shrink in the wash, it is MORE about its flexibility with the PRODUCT. Many houses (especially kitchens) cannot make white that is good or bright because they already exist. Cotton is a color that can bridge the gap between rooms that can’t be made REALLY white, and homeowners who don’t want the white to be too creamy/yellow.
When comparing whites, it is easier to see the change between air, undertones, and depth. That’s why you should check out Sherwin Williams Alabaster to see how it compares to Cotton. I also hit on Sherwin Williams Cold Foam and Greek Villa.
Cotton must be a popular reason with Sherwin Williams Greek Wool and Alabaster. When you compare the three (and they are so similar), the cotton comes off just a LITTLE more earthy, which is fine with me when it comes to Greek villa, as its undertones always make me nervous.
