Additions To Brick Ranch Homes – Welcome to CC and Mike’s Modern Navy and Cedar Ranch Style Remodel Reveal! Wow, that’s a mouth – ha! :).
When a friend from college hated that there was a haunted house in downtown Jenks and wanted us to check it out, we got in the car and headed out. When I got to the big place with the ranches spread out across it, I knew I wanted it. Mike Miller felt better when he saw peach colored walls, floral wallpaper on the ceiling I might add, and a closed kitchen with a dark cabinet and drop ceiling. Oh, and the house was a two-bedroom, one-bathroom that Mike thought would be hard to sell.
Additions To Brick Ranch Homes
As we walked around the house, my friend explained that it was sold after the owner’s daughter died. The same person has built and owned this house for over half a century. He raised a family and built thousands of monuments within the walls. We have decided to buy it and renovate it until we leave. But, I did not know at that time that during the renovation of this house, I will meet and admire the 90-year-old neighbor Dorothy, a good friend of the previous owner. From this home story. We love listening to Dorothy sitting on the back porch drinking coffee and socializing with friends at the kitchen table. When we met Dorothy, we fell in love with the house and the neighborhood and were happy to be part of the story…
Reasons Why All Modern Homes Look The Same (& How To Stand Out)
As I looked, I noticed that each house had the same thing. And what a privilege it is. Part of this story is to know the memories built into its walls and filled with memories to live the life of the happy newlyweds who finally bought this house so they could prepare it for their new family. .
Come in! And welcome to CC and Mike’s Modern Navy and Cedar Ranch Style Remodel.
Beautiful home built in 1950. Unwanted
If you know what I mean. Don’t get it wrong. I like blue Our whole house is painted with white brick.
How One Couple Turned Their Traditional Brick Ranch Into A Striking Modern Home
But the beauty of this house is that its exterior gives it a full sense of the strange and the fascinating. I knew I wanted to use blue for the exterior and combine it with cedar wood locks and accents. I really love how it turned out.

HGTV came to the site early in the project to shoot the pilot. Mike and I got into the fun of “show day” when the crew cheered us on! Unfortunately they decided not to go ahead with the photo shoot and we’ve already torn down the whole wall! We were house sitting for a year so Mike could finally get me into design. It was a blessing in disguise because otherwise I would not have taken down the wall. It was amazing and completely opened up the room. Thanks HGTV!
Here’s an amazing before and after of how we took this kitchen from a dark, closed kitchen to a beautiful open kitchen with a drop ceiling and vintage wallpaper, a large island, open space and more wow!
Home Renovation Ideas
The convertible kitchen was the perfect opportunity for me to have fun and work on the design that Mike knew wouldn’t happen in our home. That is, black cabinets combined with warm wood tones. It’s no secret that I love black and white, and you’ll hear me say it often. “You know what’s not bad? Black and white.” I also wanted to add some open shelves and candelabra, and the sliding pantry doors are a nice, bold touch that makes an appearance!

Mill Creek Carpet and Tile provided wood floors. They provided all the flooring and tiles for this project and we really enjoy working with them. They were very helpful during the selection process and their customer service was amazing. If you live in Tulsa or Oklahoma City, Mill Creek is a great option. If you want to check in and see CC and Mike’s favorite dishes, there’s an ingredient board from Flip House! Our favorite floors are the Bella Serra Monza Collection and the French Oak Bivio.
If you don’t live in Tulsa, you can buy real estate flip houses here.
How To Add Second Floor To Your House
Vent Hood: The same hardwood floor that is used in the house is used for vent hood to shape this vent hood. I had a carpenter cut Bella Serra wood to fit the shape of the windshield and attach it to the front and sides of the windshield. This is definitely Mike Miller’s idea and I love the results!
Now looking at these pictures, I can’t believe it’s the same room! It is not an easy task to demolish the brick wall which is the main outer wall. And it’s not easy to get Mike Miller to do that. Inside, I think it’s really the right decision. Especially when you see the before and after where the kitchen is completely cut off from the living room by a brick wall.
All lights in the conversion are from Hudson Valley Lighting. We are very happy to work with them and use HVL for all our products. CC and MIKE THE SHOP also proudly offer Hudson Valley Light in their store, here are some of our favorite lights.
We love the gray fabric stool from CC and MIKE The shop. They also come in leather which is amazing. We use these two bar stools in many upcoming projects and not only do we love them, but so do our customers!
Additions — Crafted Custom Homes + Renovations
Apricot Mist Sky Kitchen Runner – We love this runner with its beautiful color and pattern. She has character everywhere she goes and I love how she looks in the flip house kitchen!
You can see the original bathroom below. One of the main things we did in the kitchen renovation was to go into the garage and create a new laundry room, making the existing laundry room part of the new kitchen. We switched to an open bar area in front of the window and made the kitchen bigger and more functional!
The entrance to the original dining room was very small and had many hidden openings in the corners. However, the availability is poor and the design is poor. We knew we wanted the wall to make a structural statement. To achieve this, we came up with the idea of sliding barn doors. Mike works more and I love fashion, so this restaurant now has the best of both worlds. The pantry is easy to access and one of my favorite features in the room.
We are very happy to use Mill Creek Carpet and Tile for our kitchen floor and backsplash. One of the best features of the room is the Bella Serra engineered wood paneling that we installed in the room. Mill Creek has all of our favorite design options in stock, so come in and ask for a CC and Mic special and we’ll take care of it!
Whole Home Remodel
The kitchen backsplash is Mill Creek Carpet and Tile – Eden Bianco 3 x 11 | If you don’t live in Tulsa, you can buy ceramic subway tile to change the look of your backyard.
Now for the tile – we used two different tiles from Mill Creek Tile of Tulsa. If you don’t live in Tulsa, we offer Black and White Plaid and Black and White Geometric Line Tiles here.
Let life speak before and after. I have to say that I think the redo fireplace is one of my favorite statement pieces in the room!
