Friday Favorites Starts With My Tried & True Paint Colors

I’m sure you know by now that I’m a devoted girl when it comes to painting and have been in long-term relationships with Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams (Ben and Sherm personally) for years. However, when Lowes came to town, I was intrigued by Valspar and its color palette. I ordered the fan deck and a week later Val and I are officially engaged.

Now, I’m still learning a lot about these colors (really, learning never ends), but I’m sharing my four very light grays with you as I introduce this color line on my blog for the first time. I wanted to share the pieces…

This is probably my favorite gray in the Valspar range. Notre Dame is the perfect depth – not too light, not too dark and barely noticeable, it’s just a soft, gentle, slightly cool gray with a bit of cool green. It’s not cold and icy, just cool tones.

Gravity is a beautiful cool gray with a subtle cool mauve undertone and is without a doubt the best of the bunch. A warm purple can lean towards the pink side, a cool purple can lean towards the blue side – that’s cool. Compare this bad boy to Notre Dame and you’ll see that undertone. That doesn’t mean you’ll have “purple” walls, you won’t, but like most grays, you’ll have some.

Tempered Gray is a cool gray with a subtle stone look (not stone…stone) that gives it a slightly earthy look compared to the fresh, clean look of Gravity.

I love it (but really, is there anything I don’t love? The filtered shade is a beautiful light gray with a slightly warm feel (without looking like a beanie) and an UBER subtle purple-brown undertone.

And I would appreciate it if you could keep my love affair with Valspar a secret. Ben and Sherm can be sensitive about these things, so I’ll keep quiet for now. Just kidding – they don’t actually know I exist (like most of my fake boyfriends growing up) and I don’t get paid to promote their brands – I love them!
