If you’ve never used an aerosol primer, we have some tips to get you started! Similar to priming walls or cabinets, when using an aerosol primer, you want to make sure the surface is clean and free of dust. For glossy surfaces we recommend sanding the surface prior to priming to ensure maximum adhesion. When using an aerosol primer, it is recommended to wear safety goggles and protect the surrounding area from overspray of the primer. For best results, you need to use an aerosol primer at room temperature.
After prepping the floor and surface, the primer can be shaken vigorously for one minute after mixing the ball and frequently during application. They can be straightened out and moved from side to side to apply a light, even spray about 12 inches from the surface to be painted. We recommend 2-3 thin coats for best results. Most of our aerosol primers have a drying time of about an hour, then you are ready to paint!
If you don’t want the smell of an aerosol primer, we recommend the Original Odor Low Interior Aerosol Primer. It’s formulated to deliver the same performance as the original, with Rapid Deodorization Technology, meaning no long-lasting odor†. Ideal for use in reception rooms, small rooms and other areas sensitive to high odors.
For furniture on a porch or patio that is exposed to the elements, Original Interior | Aerosol Exterior Primer is a great choice. We use this primer as the first step in replacing thrift store furniture used in our outdoor dining room. Another reason to use an aerosol primer is to cover intricate and textured surfaces, such as the backs of seats. Aerosol Primer not only seals surfaces, but primes every scratch with ease!

We used Nova ® Mold & Rust Primer in this bathroom manufacturer because it forms an anti-mildew and anti-rust primer film, which increases the primer film’s protection against mold and rust.
This water-based primer stain resist is designed for environments with high humidity, humidity and temperature, such as kitchens, bathrooms, powder rooms and laundry rooms. It has excellent adhesion to both interior and exterior surfaces and provides a solid base for painting.
