So today we’re going to break it all down and share some beautiful farmhouse colors. Who knows better than Joanna Gaines how to choose the perfect paint color for your farmhouse?

Joanna Gaines is someone who helped make farmhouse style a success a few years ago when she and her husband hosted the HGTV show Fixer Upper. This is a TV program that aired between 2013 and 2018.

I first wrote this article in 2017 about how Joanna chose the perfect neutral colors for her farmhouse, based on her Fixer Upper paint colors that she uses in her own designs featured on her TV show.

But since then, Joanna and Chip Gaines have left HGTV’s Fixer Upper to expand their massive business, Magnolia, with a huge following.

So for 2017, based on Joanna’s design analysis, we’ve put together 30 gorgeous neutral colors that are perfect for modern farmhouse style. I shared this in a post I wrote on How to Make It in the Mountains.

All paint colors are produced by renowned paint companies such as Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, and Behr Paint. My favorite paint colors on this list are Repose Gray, Sherwin Williams Alabaster, and Righteous Beige.

But now that Joanna Gaines has introduced her Magnolia line of home paints, I thought it was time to update this article with the new paint colors she has developed and uses in her design work.

You can purchase more than 150 Magnolia paint colors online or in a Magnolia store, ACE Hardware or Lowe’s. The paint line includes interior and exterior paints as well as cabinet paints, paints, and chalk paints.

House Paint Colors

Let’s use a neutral palette and throw things in with the best colors. We are talking about white, cream, beige, gray and light colors.

If you’re looking for one paint color to use for your entire home, this is a great option. We’ll start by looking at a few different goals.

Magnolia describes white as the purest white and Joanna says she prefers this color for renovations and repairs, so it could be a fantastic color to use on her boat.

It is the best color among the seven colors that make up the Magnolia White series.

Paint Colors That Will Never Go Out Of Style

This old Liz Marie piano pictured here is beautiful. It adds a brighter tone to the piano compared to the existing wooden tone, making the space really bright!

I also like True White for the white floral background from Bless’er House. The gray combination of the door and door trim is good. If you have white walls and want a little contrast, this is a great idea!

In one room at Little Glass, you can see White White and the next highlight color, Shiplap, together. We painted the board white and added shiplap to the wall above. True White is a nice bright white that makes your wall treatments “pop.”

Shiplap, as Magnolia explains, is a cool-climate white color that gives it an aged, comfortable, and structured feel. And it feels good.

The Perfect Neutral White Paint Color!

This wooden crate was repainted in a Shiplap color, but this time in a soft Cotton Stem paint style. I like that Magnolia offers not only common interior and exterior colors, but also chalk paints that are great for painting furniture.

The white horn is a warm white color with a brilliant luster. Chip and Jo’s first goat, dubbed “One Goat,” is the perfect color between white and gray.

Bless’er House used White Horn One to paint this antique mirror transformed into a frame. In her tutorial, she describes One Horn White as “the perfect antique white: not white, not yellow, just a beautiful cream color.”

Antique Rose is a beautiful ivory color with soft pink and yellow tones. A great choice for a nursery or girl’s bedroom with this perfect rose “whisper”.

The painting that Liz Marie did on this bookshelf is so beautiful. You can see how it compares to the other cream and white colors she wore in her living room.

Taro is golden gray with amber and white undertones. This would be a great choice for a family room, master bedroom, guest room, or dining room where you want neutral colors but not boring.

Here’s DIY blogger Southern Stranger, who chose Taro to create a wall in her home. “I was looking for good neutrals, but I also wanted the non-white colors to stand out against the white, and I came up with Gatherings in soft, beautiful grey/dark or dark tones,” he said.

Introducing Cool Air, the darkest color on the list of neutral paint colors. It is a gray color that is a perfect blend of blue and green.

Love and Renovation used a nice AC on the trim accent wall in the bathroom and it looks amazing! This is a very good choice if you are looking for a slightly darker but not too dark gray.

Best Kitchen Paint Colors

I can’t end this list without mentioning Blanched because Joanna loves it.

She wore this color in almost all of her makeup in Season 1 of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home. Blanche is a warm beige color that goes well with any space.

Another neutral color that Joanna definitely favors is Silos White, which she’s used frequently in her recent designs. It is a warm white color with a beige tone.

But there’s definitely more to the Magnolia House paint line than neutral colors! Besides gray and white paint, there are a few other shades you might like.

Best Neutral Paint Colors In 2023

Duke Gray is a beautiful gray stone with a deep blue color. Because it’s bold and rich, it works great as an accent wall or can be used to add ambiance to any wall.

This is a bit reminiscent of Sherwin Williams’ Mount Etna, but a little lighter. Do you agree?

Faith & Farmhouse used Duke Gray on the cabinets above the washer and dryer in the laundry room. And it’s good!

I love the look of Duke Gray used on the built-in cabinets in this family room from Abbotts at Home. It has a very bold paint color, making this built-in cabinet a true centerpiece of the room.

Sherwin Williams Silver Strand: A Complete Color Review!

Americana Egg is a really bright gray color mixed with mint green and sky blue. To me it reads like a beautiful sage color.

This office building was completely transformed when Abbots at Home painted it Americana Egg. This calming color is perfect for your home office!

It’s a stronger color than the colors I’ve introduced so far, so I’m thinking of adding it as an option! Just goes to show that farmhouse style doesn’t have to be all white and cream!
