Behr Black Exterior Paint Colors – Almost every week someone pops into my DMs or emails me and says, “Hey Shawonda, can you share with me what your favorite black color is?” Comment! Of course, I have everything I need in my home and in the premises of my clients. So I thought I’d put this in a blog post.

Before I get into my favorite color, I first want to talk about my favorite color formulas. I get this question a lot too. I’m a big fan of Behr Marquee when it comes to interior walls. I love this recipe folks. The consistency is amazing and really covers in one coat. Now let me mention that the fact that I coated it in one layer does not mean that I only painted it in one layer. Always, always, always, my standard for decorating a two-story wall is eggs. But I also love a nice matte finish. Except for the bathroom walls and ceiling, all the walls in our house are Behr Marquee in eggshell except for the clear paint.

My standard for painting cabinets and furniture is Benjamin Moore Advance. I’ve used it in both of our kitchens and all the furniture colors since I discovered it. i love this one. Patience is required. This will take time. 16 hours between each coat, but the results you get with one coat are amazing. It works like an oil-based paint. (Better for cabinets and furniture in my opinion) but just as cleanable and long lasting as latex. It has excellent leveling properties and the finished product is very beautiful.

As for the exterior paint, I’ve only used Kelly Moore, so I can’t compare it to others…but I can tell you it’s great. Basically, my painter used this specifically. #thecottagebungalow We used Behr Evening Hush paint to match Kelly Moore’s exterior formula on the exterior. We painted our exterior (3 years ago) a very dark color. I haven’t had any issues with fading, peeling or anything like that yet.

Popular black is beautiful and for good reason. You can’t go wrong using it. A beautiful black that doesn’t read “too much” one way or the other from the inside out. If you’re looking for a good all-purpose black, I’d say this is your guy.

This is my new favorite due to recently using Real Simple Idea Home Space. Oh, that’s right.. I’ve been selected as a designer for Real Simple Home 2019! I didn’t talk about that here. But more details to come soon guys, this is an amazing townhouse in Brooklyn, New York and I’m honored to have this opportunity. I brought my best friend Carmion to design the space with me. We are very excited about it. We are getting a design office. I’m sure you can all imagine how our spirits and courage return to this color. Yes, we use this color in our space. I’m addicted to it. It has a smoky/charcoal undertone and dries down nicely. I like that.

The Best Black Paint Color

This color comes to mind when you hear black, simple, true black and beautiful. Before repainting our kitchen cabinets hunter green, I painted them this color first…with Benjamin Moore Advance Paint of course.

I always feel bad sharing this because it’s no longer available. But I can’t deny my love for it. This is the color of the walls, doors and ceiling of Michael’s living room. I used it for the first time in our last house. And I’ve been using it ever since. Sometimes you can find an Ace or Home Depot that still has the color codes in the color matching system. But I don’t want to give you any guarantees. All I can say is it’s a beautiful, beautiful color. It’s kind of a “warm” black, and people ask me if it’s gray. I think it can be read that way in a certain light. But no…it’s really black, it’s BAE.

I honestly don’t have much to say other than these two words: Farrow and Ball, they kill it with color and color. Personally, I think they do dark colors better than anyone else. Black in color is shiny and soft. And it’s pure black. It can be afforded if you are not afraid to go there. This is where you want to be.

Side note:  This damaged kitchen is giving me all the feels and all the…feels, it’s so good, so good.

My Love For Behr Paint Led Me To The Perfect Paint Choice For My Home Office.

Well, this is my jam! It’s a new market(ish) brand owned by black designer Nicole Gibbons. It looked terrible. Clare is a Zero VOC paint and is currently available in less than 60 designer colors. I used Blackest for our bathroom. I like it very much. This color is pitch black and remains so in all lighting conditions.

Another favorite from Claire is Blackish, I think named after one of my favorite TV shows. what should I do?

Including this! Besides the cute name, Blackish is also a “soft” black. I like to call it that. “Black Gateway” is perfect for those who want to dip their toes into black but aren’t sure the color won’t make their space look like a cave. Anyway… but only because I decided to show scared cats that they don’t die. Painting a wall or a dark room will not turn their space into an abyss. So I’m covering this. The Behr black I’m featuring in this blog post is very neutral and doesn’t feel too warm or cool to me. However, if you want to try a nice almost black color, my favorite color is Behr Black Evergreen. It is a dark green color that looks black in some lights. I use it in the bedroom in our motorhome. Recently used in front of the front door.
