I don’t know all the colors that are out there, but I can share what I’ve used over the years that I love and that have worked for me!

Favorite White, Cloud White by Benjamin Moore. You will find all the interior colors are from Benjamin Moore and that is your personal preference. I believe in using high quality paints such as Benjamin Moore, Dunn Edwards, Pratt & Lambert or Farrow & Ball (and there are others). There is a real difference in color quality as they use more pigments in their formula. You get what you pay for with color!

Not only that, BM seems to smell great and has zero or very little VOC in all of their formulas (even the most expensive ones!) when I paint my kids’ rooms and living spaces.

My favorite white is Cloud White. Another favorite (and also one of the designers) is White Dove. And while I like it (and have it elsewhere), it’s not as “pure” white as Cloud White. Want something a little more yellow than White Dove, but doesn’t just look white? White cloud is your color! I will explain more

White! I have used many different whites in many homes over the years and will never use anything else. It’s what I use in our kitchen, living room, and every trim, door, and molding throughout our house.

There are neutrals that I like to use, but I’ll start with one of my favorites and that’s the bedroom, the stairs, the family room, and the upstairs hallway. This color is Muslin. Muslin is a very soft beige, with a warm texture. I don’t find it too yellow, especially in a north facing room. But you can if you put it somewhere in the south. I’ll show you!

Here in the living room (facing north) it will be neutral. Light green with a touch of warmth and green, but not too yellow.

However, I painted it in my room and it was a completely different color! The room faces south so it adds more warmth and the color is light yellow. Me, I don’t like it, so I plan to paint it. It’s not necessarily a bad color – just not what I want.

It’s more yellow in this room than in the northern living room! Lesson Learned: Be careful with the color scheme

Another neutral favorite is Shaker Beige. This name often scares people! I think they’re thinking of something more gold, or dark 90’s-beige! However, it is actually a true beige. It’s not too golden, not too dark and too translucent. This is my dining room color downstairs.

You can see here that it is much darker than the Mousseline room. And below both are in the same form.

Warmer and darker than Muslin. It’s really neutral and I’ve seen it used at half the intensity. It also looks great. And it’s not too yellow. Our dining room faces south and is a neutral beige in the room.

Another neutral favorite is Revere Pewter. This color is very popular and all over Pinterest! It is naturally white. The warm function ensures that it is not too cold (a very gray matter, of course). My daughter’s bedroom has Revere Pewter below.

That’s right! It even warms up when it’s down to 50%, which I love about this room. Maybe it’s because I get so many comments/questions every time I post!

I love how simple and elegant this room is. It can be a nice “greige”.
