Just to name a few, you have neutral white, bright white, soft white, warm cool white, diamond white, true white, pure white, cloud white, and the list goes on with these little variations. And don’t even get me started on the different types of finishes: gloss, semi-gloss, matte, etc.

To further complicate matters, paint colors take on different hues under different lighting conditions, times of day, and bright colors (ie warm light, artificial light, fluorescent light) in the room.

1) Check the colors first with a sample 2) Paint different parts of the house and observe them at different times of the day. 3) Consider the rest of your furniture 4) Consider the overall “feel” and “warmth” of the home

This is my third time choosing a theme for my home (the first time I used a light taupe, the second time I used a light gray) and I’m learning that the colors recommended by other bloggers and decorators are usually NOT what I end up with Instead, I end up using #2 or #3 on my list.
