Over the past year, Benjamin Moore has stopped updating the best selling paint color section on their website, which is really disappointing. But just last week they finally updated it (probably for the new year) and I’m always so excited to see Benjamin Moore’s best selling and most popular colors.

I’m not one to pick a paint color just because it’s popular or trendy, I always go for the best selling colors because the paint color has to be beautiful and reliable to beat hundreds of Benjamin Moores. Colors. It’s also one of the tools I use when I’m looking for new colors to apply to my clients and blog.
Best Black Paint Colors For Interior & Exterior
Benjamin Moore certainly has the most beautiful shades of blue of any paint company. Smoke and Hail Navy are two all-star colors that have been on the bestseller list for years because these colors are simply stunning and consistently look good in a variety of lighting situations.
Benjamin Moore Smoke is a thin light blue, very spacious in space. I used smoke on a recent client project in the boys room and it looks so beautiful.
Van Courtland Blue has been a popular blue color for years and I especially love it in cabinets! In fact, Stephanie Gamble Interiors recently painted these laundry room cabinets Van Courtland Blue, and it’s an absolutely gorgeous color in this space.
I would venture to guess that the most popular Benjamin Moore blue is Hale Navy. Hale Navy is the perfect dark navy and a favorite among designers, builders and homeowners because it always looks so beautiful! In my opinion, nothing compares to Hale Navy.

I’m not surprised by Benjamin Moore’s best selling grays because they are all great and safe Benjamin Moore grays. Collingwood is a new color that I’m not familiar with, but I fell in love with it a few months ago when I visited this modern French home during the Salt Lake City Parade of Homes.
Collingwood is slightly warmer than the traditional balanced warm grey. No yellow color, little heat. I personally loved it, but keep in mind that this home is filled with tons of natural light!
Stonington has grown in popularity over the last couple of years, but I think this is the first time I’ve seen it on a bestseller list. Stonington Gray is a deeper (more pigmented) warmer gray than Owl. However, it is moody gray and very cool in certain lighting situations.
Not surprisingly, you see the gray owl and the Edgecombe Gray on this list. These are two warm All-Star grays that have been best sellers for years because they are great and reliable colors.
Element Guard™ Exterior Paint
Edgecombe Gray is a very light warm gray that I love and use a lot. Last year we featured Edgecombe Gray here on Color Spotlight and shared a number of spaces painted in this versatile color.
Gray Owl is probably Benjamin Moore’s most popular warm gray. If it’s not number 1, I’m sure it’s number two.
Benjamin Moore’s most popular greens are actually green/blue/grey, which doesn’t surprise me. Along with white and gray, these beautiful shades of green/blue/grey are a big color trend right now. I would venture to guess that Woodlawn Blue (which Benjamin Moore referred to as green) is Benjamin Moore’s most popular green because it is used so often by designers, builders and homeowners. This is one of my favorite colors!

Best Greige Paint Colors
Coincidentally, paint manufacturers in 2018 in the paint color predictions, I noticed that green is a big expected color trend for 2018. I think we’ll move more towards muted greens, similar to very soft sages, but still with a blue/grey undertone.
On the other hand, I’m shocked to see Benjamin Moore’s Wedgwood Gray not on the list since it’s been on the list for years. This is one of the most popular and beautiful greens!

There are very few surprises on this list when it comes to the most popular white colors, but I have to tell you that I am shocked that Benjamin Moore is not on the decorator’s white list! This must be a mistake because Decorator’s White is probably one of the most popular paint colors on the planet. I think that’s wrong and I will say that if you don’t already know about Decorator’s White, definitely put it on your radar!

Along with Sherwin Williams Repose Grey, Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White is on my go-to color list and the color I recommend most to my clients. It’s a gorgeous color for cabinets, trim and interior doors. However, I recommend Decorator’s White primarily for cabinets, trim, and interior doors in areas that don’t get a lot of natural light, because this white instantly brightens up a space without getting warm tones at night or in artificial light. .
Benjamin Moore Simply White has really grown over the past couple of years and is one of the most popular whites. However, I recommend it only in areas with a lot of natural light, as it generates less heat.
White is very difficult to distinguish, but there is a very simple trick I use to instantly recognize shades of white. You can read how they do it here.
