Benjamin Moore Off White Colours – Anyone who has started a home renovation can agree that finding the perfect shade of white is no small task. While white may seem like the easiest color to choose, a trip to the local paint store will remind you that this popular design choice still requires significant thought. There are a lot of things to consider when choosing the right white color for your home so we decided to dedicate an entire blog post to white paint colors that we consider to be tried and tested. Today we’re sharing five TLD projects that showcase our favorite versions of white walls, from crisp snow to creamy white (don’t miss our insqueezable TLD color guide at the end of the post)!
This preview of our recently completed Huron project shows just how impressive our favorite white color, White Dove, can be. This shade of white is a great choice for living spaces as its warm undertones allow rooms to feel cozy and comfortable. Also – don’t be afraid of off-white and pure white in your home! We matched this wall color with a white and gray marble fireplace and love how the mix of warm and cool tones adds complexity and interest to this room.

This beautiful shade is one of our favorites here at TLD as we’ve used it for several projects including Project Mutual and Project Amabel! Here Comes the Bride has neutral undertones and as a result, reads smooth and clean in every use. The best thing we do when choosing white for your home is to vary the colors you’re aiming for. It’s easy to leave the color chips alone but changing the color in many places and looking at them at different times of the day can help you choose the perfect white color for your space.

You can’t have a conversation about the color white without mentioning Chantilly lace. Many designers return to this shade, time and time again, and for good reason; The neutral look of this paint color allows it to match many spaces. Chantilly Lace is described as neither cool nor warm undertones, making it a very attractive shade that looks great in a variety of situations. We love how you created a beachy and fresh theme for our summer house project! It’s our trimwork shade too!
Here at TLD, one of our go-to colors is simply white. For our Erin Basement Build project, we used this paint color but took a slightly different approach than usual. The window is cream white which is accentuated by the artificial lighting of the basement, and since we wanted the walls to read as pure white rather than warm white, we mixed the color at 75%. This solution, which Studio McGee also swears by, combines your specific paint color with pure white so you can use your favorite accent without worrying about calm tones invading the space.

Benjamin Moore 7 Most Popular White Paint Colors
White walls are all the rage right now and for good reason. It creates a bright and versatile theme for your space. They reflect natural light back into the space and create a warm and inviting feeling. But, let’s be honest, choosing the perfect white color for your space can certainly be difficult. If you’re having trouble choosing a white paint color for your home, we’re sharing some real design tips to help make the decision easier!
Our biggest tips when using white in your home is to stick to the same color for the walls, ceiling and trim. For the trim and ceiling, we want to cut it by 50% (this creates a softer, lighter version of the original shade and stays true to the same tone and base color). If you use more than one white color in the space, you run the risk of the color having different shades and undertones, which can make a big difference in how other whites look against each other (women this with other colors as well, but it can be seen mainly by whites). By painting everything the same white color, you ensure that the hues and undertones are the same, so your white color stays tried and true without changing its appearance. Remember, if you want some contrast in the trim or cabinets, consider brightening the same white color to 75% or 50%. We reduce it to the ceiling by the same percentage as the trim.
We hope our guide to choosing the perfect white paint color helps you in your decision making process! Always remember the structure. You may not want to spend the money, but the model can save you a costly repaint mistake in the long run. Test your samples at different times of the day, in different rooms of the house, against your trim/cabinet color, and against your flooring. All of these can change the appearance of white paint, so be sure to consider all factors. You can never sample too much in our opinion! If you’re thinking of lots of whites, paint them next to each other in different areas (including trim!) in your room.
Whatever you do, please don’t be fooled by the pictures you see online of certain colors. All colors look different on computer screens and have different transitions applied to them. They won’t look right in your home, so keep that in mind and use patterns instead.

When choosing sheens for your whites, we often recommend flat or eggshell for normal (non-room) walls and satin in the bathroom. For us, the ceiling is a flat color. In millwork and cabinetry, we often use satin. Semi-gloss is also popular for use in feed work.
