Best Paint Color For Brick Fireplace – If you have a brick fireplace, you might consider painting it for an updated look. Today’s post will take you through a painted brick kiln and the materials you need (step: not the paint).

After moving into our first house, I knew one of the first jobs I wanted to do was paint our brick kitchen. While I appreciate brick and admire its character in other buildings, brick in the fireplace is not pretty. There are shades of red and orange that are too old and I want a softer, more neutral look in our home.

I went to Pinterest for ideas and found tons of photos of white brick fireplaces. The only problem is that I don’t like the exposed look of all the white brick. There are some tutorials for the white brick, with a wider area, but that’s not the last one.

Best Paint Colors To Pair With Natural Red Brick

I looked further and found a product called Romabio Limewash. This is a true white paint specially formulated to create a unique white effect on stone, brick and other textured surfaces. It is a self-made 1-layer process and made directly from lime extracted in northern Italy. You can read more about it here.

Update: Since using it on the brick exterior of Studio McGee’s new house, this chalk product has been a hit.

What I love is that you can achieve a traditional look depending on the material and cover the brick as much or as little as you like. The product is a natural product and can be washed off within 5 days of use, so if I use it and hate it, I can always wash it off. It seems appropriate and scary.

When I search the internet for inspiration, my favorite brick fireplaces have a two-tone effect and use a combination of colors for a more natural variety, rather than just one color. I think having different colored bricks makes it look more dimensional and realistic.

I went with 1 quart of Avorio White and 1 quart of Nube Gray and mixed each in its own bucket using a 1:1 ratio of limewash water.

This stuff is magic! It is very easy to use and forgiving. You really can’t mess it up. When I first mixed it I thought it wasn’t enough and it was too watery, I didn’t think the color would last. Don’t let it fool you. I have a lot of product to finish our fireplace and paint the cover well.

1. I started by wiping the brick with a damp cloth to make sure I had a clean surface to work on. I decided not to paint the fireplace because it was a burning fireplace and we were covering it. Cover the floor around your counter and cook with a soft cloth because you will be wet!

2. Make sure to moisturize your face before using the lemon bath. I took a large spray bottle filled with water and put them in the brick oven to cool.

3. In 2 separate 5 gallon buckets, I mixed the 2 colors I was using following the instructions on the back of the lid in a 1:1 ratio of water to lime. I used one quarter of Ivory White and one quarter of Cloud Grey. It is not necessary to break it, since you work with bricks and stones that allow breathing. Save a step and why I love this lime wash!

4. Above the fireplace, I started with Cloud Gray first and started using a random brush with a brick, not being very careful not to stop between the “lines” of each brick, I want it to look natural and real and not perfect. . I recommend a texture brush because it’s bigger than a brush and faster in this step. Also, the blades are really smooth and easy to work with. *Update: I noticed one reviewer didn’t like the carpet brush. I only use the Romabio brand brush and it works great, can’t speak to cheap carpet brushes.

I kept painting random bricks on the grid. Since the product is meant to be liquid, it’s best to start from the top.

5. After I finished with Nube Gray and went to the bottom of the oven, I followed my bucket with Avorio White and started from the top and started using lime. But this time I painted the remaining bricks, just a quick spin on the Cloud Gray painted ones. I was very messy in my work and did not try to paint all the Cloud Gray bricks perfectly. I actually washed the white and gray bricks and that’s what gave it a natural look. The gray brick drips don’t bother me and I like that it’s more durable.

Paint Your Brick Fireplace In 2 Easy Steps!

It was hard to get into the brick lines because the brush was so big between each brick, so I went in with a 3” brush to go through each crack and it was all covered.

6. I waited an hour for the washing machine to wash, then put it in the oven and used a damp cloth to clean some of the clothes. That’s the beauty of this product. You have 5 days to do whatever you want before it is destroyed, calculated and difficult. I wanted it to be well covered, so none of the red brick could be seen, so I didn’t wash it too much.

It’s very easy! One afternoon, I finished the stove, which took a few hours. It took longer to use two colors but I’m sure it wasn’t worth it and I love how it turned out!

Our living room is definitely one of my favorite rooms in our house. It is very comfortable and convenient. The insect print rug brings it all together and it’s SOFT! It comes from an online rug store with great prices and they always have sales. You can buy the item here.

I recommend using a pillow under the rug as the rug is on the thin side and I like my rugs thick and soft.
