These Benjamin Moore Classics are two of our favorite whites. In fact, we named Benjamin Moore’s Seapearl exterior color of the year. With an LRV of 77.95, Seapearl is off the white. The LRV of Simply White is 91.7 so it is very bright. (Learn what LRV is and why it’s important, especially for white.) While similar colors create a monochromatic color scheme, their different undertones provide subtle contrast. Simply White (paint the interior here) provides a warm glow that both brightens and contrasts with the gray colors of Seapearl (brick paint).

Exterior Paint Colors For A Better Looking Home

Alabaster by Sherwin Williams is a good choice of brick. This paint color varies by style, making it a great choice for a variety of home exteriors. Our designers used the alabaster brick, trim and paneling pictured above. When you go this route, we recommend adding dimension and depth with black accents like Sherwin Williams’ Tricorn Black. Tricorn Black was used on the garage door and front door above. Alabaster is not pure white, nor is Tricorn Black black, so it is not a mixed black/white combination. This brick color is modern and provides subtle drama.

This warm, earthy color and paint color brings a sense of harmony to the front of the house. Instead of serving as a contrast, the paint colors complement each other. Olympic Mountain takes center stage in a brick finish, Jockey Hollow Gray adorns the soffits and trim, and Simply White completes the look by accenting the trim.

Brick houses with orange clay roofs look fresh and modern when the bricks are painted beige or off-white. Such a special roof should be the main point of the exterior design, and red bricks can compete with it. One of our designer beige picks is Benjamin Moore’s Grant Beige. In this example, accents in Urbane Bronze by Sherwin Williams give it depth and bridge the contrast between the light beige and the ceiling color. (Urbane Bronze is one of Sherwin Williams’ best exterior colors for 2021, primarily because of its versatility.

If you are dealing with brick that has never been painted, you have the option of trying lime. This beautiful effect gives the house an old, historic feel, with hints of brick still showing through. Above, our designer suggested Classico limewash by ROMABIO. The color with warm tones complements the warm brick throughout. And this house has a lot of beautiful and beautiful things to paint. Here, the designer recommended accents painted in Iron Mountain by Benjamin Moore and Natural Choice and Porpoise, both by Sherwin Williams.

Not that you need our approval, but as you can see from our recommendations so far, we often recommend using both a Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore image in one design! Both types work well when properly prepared brick is painted. Seapearl is particularly beautiful in brickwork as the exposed bricks appear white and the cracks between the bricks are grey, giving a built-in dimension. In this home, Sherwin Williams’ painting of all the Iron Ore brick and Benjamin Moore’s Onyx trim and accents provide a rich, deep contrast that brings out the Seapearl gray hues.

If you keep your red brick natural, a gray floor can give it a modern look. This is one of the best brick and paint colors in our books. In fact, many bricks naturally have gray stones and beige stones, and the mortar often looks gray from a distance. Painting the interior with Benjamin Moore’s Jockey Hollow Gray accentuates these sounds.

In less color, mixed elements act as partners rather than competitors. Bricks, stone cladding and natural stone have been added to this house – all beautiful materials in their own right, but the color palette makes them feel a bit more eye-catching. In this case, the right combination of brick and color can be decisive. By painting the brick with Benjamin Moore’s neutral Revere Pewter, our designers allowed the natural details of the stone to stand out. The metal bracket on the side of the shaker adds another dimension to the house – notice how flat the front of the before photo is compared to the after photo? – which creates the gray and blue color of the stone. The onyx color on the cover adds contrast.

Revere Pewter, Iron Mountain and Onyx are three neutral materials that work well together. Paint colors help define the home’s architectural features without feeling too busy, even with a base of red brick and light brick.

Pale brick or lime is not for everyone. If you want to upgrade your brick with the new white, Alabaster is a great choice. Its warm beige color helps play well with natural wood. This combination, along with Marvin tinted windows, completely modernizes the look of this home.
