But, over time, thousands of people read the post. And guess what? A few went out and brought colors and painted their rooms. And do you know what happened next? No, not at all.

Linen White With two white loveseats in my portfolio, it would be great if your room gets as much light as a sun room. In a dark room, the linen may be off-white and/or peachy. However, linen white is an ideal decorative color for dark gold, green, warm red, rust, orange and brown and other deep neutrals.

In general, I recommend that you choose your colors after you know them or in conjunction with your other choices. But I understand that this is not always possible.
Now some of you may panic because some of these colors are not pastels by any means.
Of course, you don’t have to use dark colors. But dark colors are great for small spaces. Just remember something.
All these colors go well with each other, and you can mix any other color in these rooms. They all look good in different lighting as well. Yes, like all colors they may look different in some lights, but they all look good.

As you know, there are dozens of other beautiful colors in the Laurel Home Essential Paint/Palette home furnishings collection.
Okay… I know you have a panicked look on your face. Yes, of course you should always test your colors. So, go out and get your test pots and make some signs.
And please do me a favor, don’t cheat me, ask the guy to match 50% or something. Other than something like a white dove at 50%, it’s total nonsense that started it, but it’s mostly just white or cotton balls.
So let’s get to it! (Note: This is for a typical home, but I think it could work for most open concept homes with some modifications.)
Kitchen: New Painted Cabinets & Walls
The house is a typical center hall colonial with small rooms. Healthy (sorry for the word haters.) There is an entrance hall, study, living room, dining room, kitchen, family room, powder room and family room. It is eight colors on the first floor.
To make it less stressful, I stick to one paint company. Isn’t it already a burden on your tired shoulders? Don’t you hate it when you have a list of paint colors and a list of five different companies? That means five different stores – as if life wasn’t hard enough?
Also, your painter will resent you if you let him run around and don’t have time. The paint company I am most familiar with and preferred by painters in my area is Benjamin Moore. It’s not that I don’t like other companies and colors. I certainly do, but I’m trying to make it less stressful for you, not more.

The entryway is the area where people are welcomed into the home. It could be WOW! Or it can be gentle and calm. However, it is the backbone of all other colors and will only be the bottom and top color. We paint it with soft cream paint.
IVORY WHITE 925 (same color as ACADIA WHITE AC-41) is a beautiful cream that looks great in light or dark areas. You can’t go too wrong. I have used it many times and it has brought life back to even a dark, gloomy room.
