Many of Benjamin Moore’s colors are our favorite whites. In fact, we named Benjamin Moore’s SeaPearl our exterior paint of the year. Seapearl is pure with LRV of 77.95. White’s LRV is 91.7, so it’s pretty strong. (Learn what LRV is and why it’s important, especially for white paint.) Although similar colors create a monochromatic color scheme, their different shades provide significant contrast. White (pictured here in trim) contrasts with seapearl gray (pictured in brick) for a warm, inviting glow.

Alabaster from Sherwin Williams is a great alternative to brick. This type of paint can be read in different designs, so it is good to use it for different things outside the house. Our designers used alabaster for the brick, stone and siding shown in the house above. When going this route, we recommend adding dimension and depth with black paint accents like Sherwin Williams’ Tricon Black. Tricon Black was used on the garage doors and upper front door. Alabaster isn’t too white and Black Tricone is too dark, so it’s not a brutal black and white combo. This brick and paint is modern and offers a little drama.

The combination of warm and earthy colors and paint colors add excitement to the home interior. Instead of contrasting, these paint colors complement each other. The Olympic Mountains take center stage in the brickwork, Jockey Hollow Gray adorns the soffits and fascia, and Simply White trim accents complete the look.

Brick houses with orange tile roofs look fresh and modern when the bricks are painted beige or white. This unique roof must be an outdoor space, and the red brick can compete with it. One of our beige options is Grant Beige from Benjamin Moore. In this example, Urban Bronze from Sherwin Williams provides depth and contrast between the light beige and the color of the ceiling tiles. (Urban bronze is one of our top Sherwin Williams paint colors for 2021, mostly because of its versatility.) Pro tip: Bronze or bronze faucets, downspouts, and ceilings—look great with clay tiles and beige paint.

#5 // Classico Limewash by Romabio with Iron Mountain by Benjamin Moore, Natural Choice and Porpoise by Sherwin Williams

Exterior Gray Paint Colors

If you are dealing with bricks that have never been painted, you have the option of trying limewash. These beautiful features give the house an old and historic feel, with the bricks still visible. For the house above, our designer said Classico limewash and ROABIO. Warm tone paint complements the warm brick look. This home has a lot of beautiful architecture that could be enhanced with paint. Here, designer Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams’ Natural Choice and Porpoise inspired the painted tone on Iron Mountain.

You don’t need our permission, but as you can tell from our reviews so far, we recommend using Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore paints together in a design! Both colors work well when painted on properly prepared brick. Seapearl looks best in brick because the front bricks appear white and the spaces between the bricks appear gray, giving it a textured look. In this home, all exposed brick surfaces in Sherwin Williams Iron Ore, accent walls in Benjamin Moore’s Onyx provide rich, deep contrast, and Sepal Gray paint the floors.

If you’re keeping your brick red or natural, greige trim will give it a polished look. This is one of the best brick and paint combos in our book. In fact, most bricks naturally have gray and beige particles, and the mortar is often visible from a distance. Painting your trim in Benjamin Moore Jockey Hollow Gray will bring out these tones.

With a little paint, mixed materials act as supporters rather than opponents. The house has brick additions, rock walls and natural stone – all beautiful on their own, but the color palette makes it even more appealing. In this case, the right composite of bricks and paint can make all the difference. By painting the brick in Benjamin Moore’s neutral Revere Pewter, our designers let the natural details of the stone come to the fore. Iron Mountain on the edge of the Shaker gives the house a larger feel – notice how the front looks different from the back in the first picture? The onyx color of the shutter provides excellent contrast.

Tips For Painting Your Exterior Brick

Does this color combination look familiar? It’s the same three as number 8 above, but they look different when combined with hollow bricks. Revere Pewter, Iron Mountain, and Onyx are three neutrals that work together. These paint colors help define the home’s architecture without overwhelming it, even with bright red brick and pale mud.

Gray or lime brick is not for everyone. If you want to replace your brick with a fresh white color, alabaster is a great choice. Its warm beige colors play well with natural wood. This combination, along with the black Marvin windows, completely changes the look of the house.

Here are some basic brick and paint color tips that will work no matter what your home looks like today: Brick often looks painted white, beige or gray. Natural bricks work well with neutrals. Lighter tones bring out the brick look, and adding dark gray paint to the shutters and trim makes a difference.
