Exterior House Paint Colors App – Today’s TOH TV owners use period photos, design expertise and modern technology to find the perfect color for their home.
Choosing exterior colors for your home can be difficult. Their choice of a 125-year-old home in the middle of a community surrounded by colorful and historic architecture can be a daunting prospect. That was John Stone and Sally Peterson, the last owners

When they bought a house for themselves and their two daughters last fall, they agreed on two things: that the dated and uncomfortable interior needed to be renovated and modernized, and that the house needed to be painted. John, a carpenter, was more concerned about the color of the exterior and didn’t care about the replacement. “He was interested in green, and when I didn’t say anything, he changed the song to ‘whatever you want,’” said Sally, who wanted a “new and exciting” plan.

At the same time, their goal was to win. “A lot of houses these days seem to have every part of the front a different color,” he said. “Our house is very simple, the details are simple – we want to keep it that way.”

Ways To Pick Exterior Wall Paint Colours For Your Home
To help them decide on the right colors, the couple turned to Susan Maycock, an architectural historian and color expert at the Cambridge Historical Commission. Such experts are a valuable resource for homeowners who want to preserve the historic character of a home, he said
Forest Tom General Agreement. “In addition to the history and culture of the neighbors, these people can often find photos, pictures or documents of the built house,” he said.
Revealed: Color consultant Susan Maycock first suggested going for brick-red with taupe trim and black accents. But the house owners were not attacked. Sally mentions Benjamin Moore’s Baked Clay (1), Cumin (2) and Kalu (3).
There was no such evidence at Sally and John’s house. So Maycock dug into another resource, showing the company two-color brochures with color photos of period houses from the 1880s and 1890s. “Popular colors at the time were deep and rich, gold, candy and oil,” says Maycock. Due to the development of mixed paint that could be transported on railroads, there were different colors of paint at that time. “Gum colors like the gray in this house were very rare in the Victorian era,” says Maycock. “Such colors did not return to Anapaste until the 1890s.”
Best Exterior Yellow Paint Colors For Your Home
After printing books, Maycock came up with different color schemes. It is suggested to be colored from the side of red to the sage to the depth of mustard yellow, each with a color that complements the frame and the accent color or two pieces of furniture such as windows and doors.
Revealed: John is a big fan of this green base color with white trim and pink accents. There was no explosion. “He was so dumb,” she said. Benjamin Moore’s Rolling Hills (1), Grant Beige (2) and Cottage Red (3).
Of all the well-presented Maycock, Sally is the most suitable with the same mustard scheme with cream and dark brown. Wanting to get a better idea of what they look like in real life, Sally colored in a digital photo of her home using photo editing software. “That’s a big help. “It gave us a sense of the direction we wanted to go.”
The result? “I don’t like it,” said Sally. “I saw, well, bad. Mustard would have been popular at the time, but I wanted something brighter.” When there were similar houses in the neighborhood, she and John hit the road looking for color design inspiration that suited their taste.

The inspiration came from a neighboring house, which is yellow in color. “It was a very different sound than what we were looking at at Mustard,” Sally said. “She was bright and cheerful and made us feel like home.”
After she and John told their artist Mauro Henrique where they saw it, he took a picture of the house and compared it to where the shop was. Then, armed with two different colored crayons, he painted large sticks around the house, so that the pairs could compare. This is something Maycock always recommends, making sure you have enough circles (2 to 3 feet) to get a good idea of how each color “reads” in different lighting and weather conditions. “The operator’s view is very good, but the screen colors are not correct,” he said. “The color of the laptop may look good, but when you put it on the fan, that’s the whole story.”
Fortunately, John and Sally’s story has a happy ending. While they didn’t follow Maycock’s advice, they said it greatly helped their decision, relying on a palette they picked from their home and neighborhood. The color of the legs is yellow, warm and sunny; Cream brightens the corners, columns and tops of tables; Black window trim goes with the dark accents of the Victorian era. “To mix things up, paint the front door red,” Sally said. “But we’re still trying to find the right shade.”
