Paint Colors That Joanna Gaines Uses – Things can get a little frustrating if you want to redesign your home but can’t think of colors that go well together. Especially if you just bought a house and every room has 1980s floral wallpaper like mine! Coming back from the paint store with color swatches can be a pain. I think I’ve had every painting known to man at one point trying to pick a paint color. I scoured Pinterest, looking for room inspiration and trying to find matching paint. Of course, every paint color will look different in your room, but I think it’s easier to focus on a color when you see it on someone else’s wall, right? Being the biggest Fixer Upper fan I am, I decided to put together a whole house color scheme inspired by Joanna Gaines herself. So we talk about Joanna’s favorite paint colors and how she combines them to create a home that’s open, inviting and flows seamlessly.
So let’s talk about Joanna’s old favorites first. I want to share first because this is mine too. I have used this color in my own home and I can tell you that it is just as beautiful as the Fixer Upper house! When the Fixer Top Show begins, Joanna is drawn to the blues and greens of the earth. The lightest, airy, summer color I love! So here’s a full Fixer Upper house color scheme based on Joanna’s favorites!
Paint Colors That Joanna Gaines Uses
Let’s start with the cut color. The easiest way to match your home is to stick to one solid color. Joanna often uses Sherwin Williams Alabaster for her trim and sometimes Sherwin Williams Pure White. Use one color throughout your home decor and you’ll have a home that flows from room to room.
How To Choose The Best White Paint Color Every Time!
Every home needs a color barrier. Joanna likes to use gray for the main living room of her home. Her favorites are Sherwin Williams Mindful gray, Oyster Pearl and Passive Grey. Repose Gray is lighter than Mindful and looks great for outdoor seating. My friend chose this color for the living room and dining room and she loves it! Get paint samples before painting every wall! 🙂
Switch to some nice tunes. Joanna says she really likes red and green. I can say without a doubt that Sherwin Williams Sea Salt is one of the most beautiful paints I have ever used. It’s no wonder why this color is so popular with Joanna and other designers. It is the perfect green and white and looks good in any room. I use it to decorate my bathroom and laundry room!
Sherwin Williams Comfort Gray is not too dark in my opinion. This is another bright green. And I love him! Joanna uses this color in living rooms and bedrooms that need bolder colors, but this color is not a winner! Suitable for hotels or offices.
The master bedroom is perfect for Sherwin Williams Intellectual Grey. This color is a nice warm color, especially wood floors. Joanna used this color for her bedroom and I couldn’t be happier with it! Be careful, if your bedroom does not have natural light, this color can be confusing.

Well, last week, while I was on vacation, something amazing happened. Designer Joanna Gaines has teamed up with Kilz Paint to introduce a new paint line called Magnolia Home Paint and I couldn’t be happier or more excited about the collection. I didn’t know he worked on the paint line. This woman takes things seriously and I love her! 🙂
I can’t help but wonder if Joanna really nailed this color and created something new and beautiful. Of course, I want designers to create more boutique collections because they really know and understand color in a natural and more powerful way.
Magnolia Paint Favorite Neutral Wall Colors
Joanna’s colors are amazing, and I think she’s very talented in working with Kilz, who created the first artists on the market. I haven’t tried the paint since it came out, but I can only imagine how great it would be to work with Kilz and Joanna.
The painting is now available at Joanna Gaines’ online store called Magnolia Market. I have read that select home buyers can take this decision. I didn’t know what it was for a long time, and since it was just released, I didn’t know where to buy it. I think big box stores should try to carry it if it’s good from the start.

All 25 paint colors are available in matte finish (can be beautiful!), eggshell or satin finish. Cabinet and furniture colors are limited to True White or Shiplap. Cabinets and furniture will be painted in a semi-gloss color. I love the almost “linear” design of the painted, black on white and black on white stickers. Thats normal!

I found information on the KILZ website that Magnolia Market buyers can also carry it. I know if it’s available at a big box store, I’d love to try it. I’ve been a fan of KILZ forever and some of Joanna’s shades are amazing. I don’t see myself ordering paint through the mail. I appreciate that they are trying to use good power/brands and not suffer too much in growth.
