Yes, I know it’s a neutral color now. It’s very modern, no doubt. I have also been going back and forth whether to stick with beige or gray. I had beige in my old house and loved it. It was a Latte from Restoration Hardware.

NOTE: If you are painting the room yourself, these tools will help you a lot. And this post gives you my top tips for painting a room in 5 easy steps.

It was the perfect backdrop for my bright red couch and turquoise accents. And our new house was freshly painted in the same neutral beige.

, which is a flat painting. I don’t have any extra swatches to paint, and there’s a little girl walking around the house with sticky fingers. πŸ™‚ So I had to paint and choose a color for the living room, entryway and two hallways.

In the end I decided to go with gray because I wanted to do something I’ve never done before. (Although I know everyone else does.) And if I get bored in two years, I can always go back to beige or something else. It’s just painting, and I love painting. So here it is! πŸ™‚

Good To Know: Our Favorite Greige Paints β€” W Design Collective

In the end, I narrowed the selection down to four shades of gray. I researched gray paint for hours, searched online, made a long list of options, went to the paint store and looked at lots of paint scraps.

I ended up choosing four colors to try: Rockport Grey, Revere Pewter, Grant Beige and Hazy Skies. All by Benjamin Moore. I love their colors, especially the historic colors, and probably wouldn’t have chosen anything else!

I wanted to try Grant Beige, it looked like a nice greige – a mix of gray and beige. But I found it beige for what I wanted. I wanted to add gray colors because my husband really likes beige and doesn’t like gray. But in the end he didn’t like that either. I quickly pulled out of traffic and left.

I really liked the other three colors. Hazy Skies and Revere Pewter aren’t that different. But Misty Sky is a little greener than pewter gray. And then I liked Rockport Grey, but I knew it was going to be dark. I wanted to try it. My husband loved Rockport Gray, but I think it would be too much if it was on every wall.

I was leaning towards this color from the beginning, but I wanted to try it before I painted half my house and I wanted to try a few others. I’ve never been so picky about a paint color. Usually I just look at a paint swatch and go, but this time I decided I needed to get a little more involved in the process.

And I am very happy. Now I know I definitely love Revere Pewter. And I can’t wait to put it on my walls!

But I have to wait a while because my husband has a birthday this weekend and we will have friends in town. I don’t want to be here in the middle of painting the whole house with company. Yes, it can be confusing.

I also have a domino effect in the living room. I will definitely be working with boards and clearances on the walls. So I have to figure out exactly where this is going.

The Best Warm Gray Paint Colors

And I want to paint the top gray and the bottom white before putting in the boards and planks. So I don’t paint as much landscape as I used to. I’m also toying with the idea of some built-ins in the living room.

So I have to figure that out before I tackle the board and the bat. See what I mean about the domino effect? I have to do it all at once or quickly because each part affects the other. Wow, typing everything is tiring.

I recommend taking the time to choose your favorite paint colors, get samples, and paint on the posters. I used poster board from Walmart and paints from Lowe’s Paints to Benjamin Moore Colors. You want to have a color on the wall you want to paint; You can always paint directly on the wall, maybe you have a better idea, but I wanted to remove them and move them around the house. Check them when the lighting in the room changes at different times of the day.

I also moved these posters into hallways where there is less direct sunlight. I intentionally kept a white border around each color to keep the color neutral. I didn’t want the new color to be next to the original wall color.
