You can see from the photo below that the walls are SW-Passive, but the room combines cool walls with warm decor and warm white paint. Under the floor and chair rail is Benjamin Moore White Dove (explained here), the floors are a warm tone, as is the chair and copper colored mirrors. There is a definite blue tone on the walls, but mixing it with the warm decor adds dimension to the space.

Many paint colors have matching cousins, but Passive stands on its own. Passive presents itself as a gray of its own, and finding suitable comparisons isn’t as easy as other paint colors I’ve researched. There aren’t many comparable options out there, but there are two that are quite similar.

The closest Benjamin Moore equivalent to Passive is BM Stonington Gray. Now these colors are similar, but they are not an exact match.

We painted BM Stonington Gray in our basement when we moved in a few years ago and it is a beautiful color. Having both shades in my house, I can tell they are very similar, and with a shade in the basement and Passive on the two upper floors, you would never know they weren’t the same shade. You will know if you put them side by side.
