Sherwin Williams Automotive Paint Stores – Sherwin-Williams Automotive, a global leader in the paint and coatings industry, will showcase its rich history and commitment to Valspar at the 2018 SEMA Show. Using the 50′ x 60′ showroom as a springboard for new collaborations, they needed space to highlight their diverse range of products and personal brand by offering exclusive car shows, artist demonstrations and celebrity appearances.
The biggest challenge CEI faced was creating a unique experience, which required space for nearly ten unique cars. Antique hot rods, motorcycles, and even a customized 1936 Chevrolet Master car/truck combination are on display, all with unique paper and paint finishes courtesy of the Sherwin-Williams automotive brand.

Our designers were inspired by architectural photographs of garages and engine shops from the 1930s and 40s in the Sherwin-Williams archive. All materials and structural elements were chosen to reflect the historical style of the location, while maintaining a quiet environment to highlight the vibrant and colorful vehicles on display. Graphic elements are designed to reflect vintage road signs and large advertisements found in archives. Meeting and breakout areas during the show also required a two-story structure.

Our solution consists of an entire floor structure made of fiberglass I-beams, old rusted metal, flexible glass and stainless steel. The underside of the stair frame is left open to hang garage fluorescent and industrial lighting, adding to the visual appeal of the actual garage.
