Sherwin Williams Blue Kitchen Cabinets – My biggest decorating project this year is the kitchen. This part of our house is black (which is why you’ve never seen it before!) I’ll go into more specific details in a future post (I’ll share pictures of it. YIKES!), in conclusion. , the previous owner made dark cabinets out of black granite and the room scared the hell out of me. Wardrobe color. Besides the freshly painted cabinets, I have other kitchen projects, but today I want to talk about painting.
I’m up to my eyes with examples now! Now I plan to paint the cabinets white (probably Benjamin Moore’s Cabbage White) and the kitchen island blue – leaving the black granite countertops. Again, I will provide details in the next post.

Below is an example of what I have in mind for the cabinet renovation. In a world where all white kitchens seem to rule, I was really happy when I found a kitchen with colors and dark countertops!
Green Kitchen Cabinet Paint Colors We Swear By
Here are some of our favorite kitchens. It increases my confidence that blue can enhance intensity.
Here’s the hard part: choosing the right color for the kitchen island. You know I hate making decisions. The confusing thing is, I can’t decide which blue to use: blue gray, navy blue, corn pink, denim blue, and blue green. Ah! There are many, but last week I decided that I needed to go to the paint store and get samples to narrow down my options.
Below is a summary of the colors I sampled, along with my thoughts on each one, and pictures of them in action. I know some of you are looking for new blues for future projects. So I hope this helps. Remember that no paint will look the same in every home. It might not work in my kitchen, but it might look great in yours!
The kitchen below is always one of my favorites and it belongs to Sarah of Life on Virginia Street. Her island was painted Providence Blue by Benjamin Moore. Interestingly, my sample was too oily at first and had a beautiful color, but I God rejected it quickly, suddenly became one of my favorites! I should point out that our kitchen doesn’t get as much natural light as Sarah, so the colors don’t shine in her space as they do in mine.

Providence Blue is also used in this beautiful and modern Ikea hack by Haus By Hoff. Please note that the color of the kitchen and the carpet are slightly different. Because one area is flooded with natural light and the other is not. So it is always important to test samples at home, not just the colors you see on the screen.
My favorite color scheme is from Benjamin Moore’s Feast, which might work in the beautiful kitchen below, but looks like a boring dull gray in our space. When I turn on the kitchen light, all the blue bars seem to disappear. Also, personally, I think it’s a color that looks better on white than on black.
I have high hopes for the distance Sharon Williams after coming across this gorgeous room – it’s a lovely mix of gray and indigo. Unfortunately, it is too purple for our kitchen. Definitely not the look I was looking for! It looks great in areas with lots of white, as you can see in this bathroom.
I could get lost in Studio McGee’s Instagram feed for hours. They are probably my favorite designers. So this kitchen project they worked on for the first time caught my eye because of the surrounding dark countertops (as I mentioned, when I was looking for a color other than white, it was a breath of air (see the combination with the countertop! ) This is a pink painted kitchen. Williams Grays Harbor and her example in our kitchen did not disappoint – sleek and beautiful!
How To Paint Kitchen Cabinets White (our Best Tips)
This is the Grays Harbor desk. At the bottom it looks very blue to me. It’s a fun color that looks different depending on where you use it and how. How the light reaches it.
I was really rooting for Benjamin Moore Van Dusen, but it was someone else who was purple for us. Also, I think it’s a color that prefers light countertops to dark colors.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve passed this kitchen designed by Becky Owens (see photos here first!) The kitchen cabinets are painted Van Cortlandt Blue by Benjamin Moore. I was really surprised by the brightness of this color, like the shade of the gray sky. It is a beautiful, muted color, but when paired with black granite, it looks lifeless in the kitchen. I’m curious about the color of the bathroom vanity in the powder room!
Benjamin Moore’s Knoxville Gray is a beautiful color! I love it, I know it goes well with the dark countertops (see the second kitchen below), the only doubt I have is that it is not what I want.

Another of my favorite interior design teams is Jade Interiors. I love, love, love this blue kitchen they designed for their new build last year. Cabinets are painted Benjamin Moore Evening Dove. This color is too dark for me. It’s not navy blue, but it’s best described as midnight blue. Sorry, it’s not that different from our dark counter. So it goes to “no”.
My final example is Sherwin William Simkey Blue. I chose this color when I got a sample at the paint store. Of course, I caught it at first because of the name. I love a good smelling blue and this one compares to my other favorites (port blue and grey)! It is also used in conjunction with black granite. Without sharing my thoughts, I had my mom look for patterns and she narrowed it down to Smokey Blue and Providence too!
Here is a summary of what I think about the color. Many decisions must be made. I would like to reduce the blue paint in the near future. We look forward to sharing our kitchen progress. Some of the most comfortable places have very little. That’s why timeless blues like Commodore can tie it together.
