Top Greige Colors Sherwin Williams – On the hunt for the big fat? I’m sharing ten of the best, tried and true gray colors to help you make the right choice!
I’m on a mission to improve the look and feel of our living room and have been looking for the perfect grease to repaint the space. Luckily, I have a huge group of home decor enthusiasts (you!) who love to share their shades of gray! I asked for your favorites on Instagram and Instagram Stories and collected 500+ responses to find the top ten shades of gray—favorites that many of you have used, loved, and recommended to others.

Before I delve into these ten favorite gray paint colors, I want to mention a few caveats – the same paint color in your home may not look the same as someone else’s. The amount of light, the direction your room faces, and the furniture in the room all have a big impact on how your paint color will look, and it’s best to sample your paint color instead of making it up after yourself. color. A whole room. I definitely recommend getting paint samples of your finalists so you can see how each will look in the room you will be painting.
The 28 Best Light Gray Paint Colors For Any Home
I used to test paint colors by taking a small sample size of each and painting them on the wall or poster board, but since writing this post I’ve switched to using swatches that you can buy. These are bark and stick patterns with real, real paint rolled onto them, so the color is more accurate than the printed patterns you’d find on colored tape. And it’s a lot less work than painting designs on the wall. I love that you can rearrange the patterns in different parts of your room and how easy it is to put different patterns side by side for comparison.
I usually limit it to 3-4 favorite paint colors for a swatch, but for this post I saved nine of my ten favorites (all but the lightest gray) so I could share them with you! It’s crazy how the ten colors with all the grays are actually so different from each other (I know this photo is a little shady, but I think it represents the true colors instead of me lighting it):
I’m a big fan of New Gray and this is one of my latest contenders for our wardrobe. This is a very warm mid-tone grease that has the most depth of the greases on this list. If you’re looking for a gray that’s rich in color without being too dark, this might be for you. And in my discreet space, where odd tones come out very thick, the New Gray design I put on the wall wasn’t odd. A beautiful example of a new gray from Mandy of Country Dog Homes:

Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray
After sampling all the gray paint colors in this post, I came up with a new gray for my space:

Behr Wheat Bread is one of the new gray colors that many of you have used and loved! It wouldn’t surprise me that it has the same LRV as Revere Pewter because the two colors are almost identical in color intensity, but Behr Wheat Bread definitely leans much more on the beige side than Revere Pewter. I love it in this gorgeous shabby chic home office makeover by Sara Melito:

Revere Pewter was voted the #1 best gray color by readers and is also my favorite. No one has a “no fail” paint color, but Revere Pewter is very close, very nice
Any place. When my sister called me a few years ago to say that her painter was there and that she was concerned about how things looked with the color she had chosen for her room, Revere Pewter was the color I recommended you try. To choose something else instead. Of course it works great. A true example of Revere Pewter can be found in a beautiful light and airy foyer from Fridley Homes:
What a beautiful place to walk! You can see more of this home and follow Fridly Homes on Instagram. And you can sample Revere Pewter.
Alpaca is usually a little more gray than light brown and can have a purple tint in some places (which it actually did when I tested it in my room). But it works great for many of my readers, and the perfect quilt looks neutral in Emily’s lovely nursery from Table and Hearth:

Emily used it with Sherwin Williams pepper in this space and I love the result – see for yourself. You can get a sample alpaca pattern.
Worldly Gray is a not too warm, not too cool, not too dark, not too light gray paint color that is high on my list of favorites! I love this stunning farmhouse bathroom so much by Shannon of Fox Hollow Cottage:

Repose Gray is a color I have seen in person and love and is also one of your favorites. Sometimes it can have some pink undertones depending on the kind of light it gets. I love this image of Repose Gray in Marnie Hansen’s stunning foyer because it shows how the color changes slightly depending on how much light hits it:

Acceptable gray is a long-loved color that works in a variety of spaces. It’s light but still has enough depth to make it interesting and is one of the best colors for many of my decorator friends. It is exactly what its name suggests…acceptable in almost all places. Linda of Home I Created used Agreeable Gray in her office bedroom and it seems like the perfect choice:

Of the nine paint swatches I put on our living room wall, Balboa Mist Gray has the second most purple hue of all the paint colors (primarily alpaca), but again, my space brings out those undertones more than most. It’s been listed as your favorite time and time again, so it works beautifully in most spaces. I absolutely love this one on Annie’s DIY Decor Mom’s Living Room:

Behr Silver Drop is a light gray with the tiniest hint of beige to warm it up. It looks really gray in some places and grayer in others. It’s absolutely stunning in this beautiful room from Studio McGee:
Classic Gray is the lightest of the bunch and is a beautiful, just light gray without being cool – its name is actually a great description of it! This is the only oil paint on the list that I didn’t try on my living room wall because I knew it would be too light for what I was looking for. But it sure is a beautiful choice of wall color in this lovely room from Studio McGee:
