What Is The Most Popular Paint Color For Living Rooms – In recent years, Pinterest has become one of the best sources for finding color. The reason for this is that over the years since the inception of Pinterest, people have been pinning pictures of spaces and looking at the colors used in the space. Over time and hundreds of thousands of needles later, we have access to an amazing library of images of rooms painted in almost every color on the planet! Today I wanted to share some of the most popular paint colors on Pinterest.

If you search for a particular paint color on Pinterest, you’ll likely find a collection of different spaces painted with that color. For most of us, it’s much easier to imagine what a paint color will look like when we see it used in a space. In fact, I’ve collected and pinned over 300 of these amazing colors to my Pick a Paint Color board, and every color I’ve chosen for my home comes from that board in some way.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been using various Pinterest analytics tools to identify a collection of some of the most popular and pinned colors on Pinterest. It’s not “official” or anything, but it’s good information if you’re looking for painting inspiration. I’ve also narrowed it down to colors that have a long history of working well in a variety of lighting situations. I have removed the popular ones that are picky and didn’t work so well in the past.

Also, keep in mind that what looks good in one space may not look the same in your space. This information is best used as a starting point to guide you into the color zone and give you an idea of how to find hues and shades of color.

I was not at all surprised when I was finally able to collect a palette of all the colors and see that they were all neutrals and transitional colors (a balanced combination of warm and cool tones):

Nowadays, people are still looking for safe and calm colors that are full of depth. I’ve talked a lot before about how many of us really make our design statements with bold patterns and accessory colors rather than wall colors. I’m sure the wall color pendulum will swing at some point in the future, but right now the most popular colors are calm and soothing, yet rich in depth.

It’s really interesting to see how colors become so popular on Pinterest and I can say it’s thanks to bloggers and interior designers. For example, the wildly popular Sherwin Williams color Sea Salt became an instant star after Erin from one of my favorite blogs, House of Turquoise, featured this gorgeous bathroom designed by the talented Molly Frey in 2010:

Bloggers and designers share not only color inspiration, but also product details, including the colors used in their projects. The great news is that the best colors are spreading like wildfire on Pinterest, giving us tons of color inspiration and color options for our homes:

Again, I can’t stress enough how important it is to look carefully at these colors when finding pictures of spaces painted in colors that you like. You must remember that many of these rooms are professionally photographed using high-tech lighting and that each room has different lighting conditions and variables that can significantly affect the color of the paint. In other words, what looks great in a painting may not look so great on the wall and in your home. So be sure to use the paint color pictures as a starting point, take a paint map and the maps around it and choose the paint colors in your space with your preferred lighting.

So the big question is, what is the most popular and most liked color on Pinterest? I bet most of you can guess what it is!
