β€œIt is sufficient. I know that after all the research on brick red paint reviews, a little test session on the side of our house, this dark blue my husband and I came up with is definitely top dog. If you have a similar red brick exterior and are looking to update your home, this might be the paint color(s) that will take your home to a whole new level.

Popular Front Door Colors For Brick Houses

When we moved in, it was painted sage with cream ivory trim, which really enhanced the Cape Cod style of our new home. I thought it was beautiful and it went well with the brickwork, but it didn’t show and made the house look old. I felt almost like dust. It was frankly boring and very predictable.

The dark green door was fine, but once again I felt old and dusty looking at the front door. As you can see below, even our dog, friend, wanted to go out πŸ˜†.

By the way, one of the first things I did when we moved in was to remove the lamb strips from the sides you see below. They were so dusty and worn I picked them up and they are still in the basement. Here you can see the wooden blinds we built cheaply to take this place: Wooden Side Blinds. Blinds provide privacy!

About a year later we hired a crew to paint the house a happier blue (be sure to check out the many links for lots of estimates). Did I find the right color? Oh no. It grew on us, and this deep blue type of bush was definitely an improvement on rugged sage. After we replaced our traditional shutters with DIY cedar stain shutters, I began to appreciate blue much more. It lasted about 10 years. You may notice that the updated garage door matches the shutters and it all flows perfectly.

Unfortunately, the front door still didn’t look right πŸ€” . Even after replacing the old brick stairs with a beautiful DIY mahogany staircase, I still didn’t feel like this patio door was living up to its full potential. We even considered replacing it entirely, but this old door is so sturdy that it didn’t seem like a good option. Especially considering how expensive quality doors are. Maybe one day, but wait until you see how the latest colors make our old doors POP now…

Pow! Welcome to our home. Find out how this bold navy paint livens up our front door. So bright you could catch a rainbow πŸŒˆβ€¦

Here are more photos from last fall, right after the painters were done, to show you how the dark blue brings out the cool brick tones and the bright white brings the shape of our outhouse against the background of the forest / lake. The difference is truly astounding, especially in person.

I especially love how the cedar shake looks with this dark blue paint. You may want to note that using semi-gloss cedar on the cocktails makes them stand out rather than hiding their unique pattern. The photos above and below really prove to me why I think our unique color combination is “

How To Choose The Best Entry Door Color For Your Brick Home

So tell me. See the blue in the brick? That’s the main reason I wanted this color. I knew it would work because the brick had almost the same shade of blue.

When the artists finished the repair and preparation, which took days because there were tons, they asked me to come out and make sure the color was right. I almost had a panic attack right there in the middle of the lobby in my pyjamas, but I said, β€œOh, sure! I’m about to leave! 😳”After slowly walking out and turning around, I almost died when I saw how beautiful she was. It was definitely a risk, but I guess you could call it a well thought out risk.

I told the young couple what a great job they were doing. I made them cookies too πŸ˜‚ .

My husband (note: Rick went to law school while running his own paint company) and I spent many months researching paint colors, interviewing paint companies, and actually waited all winter to hire someone because the prices are insanely high (some estimates 10 thousand more, so be careful).

Best Paint Colors To Pair With Natural Red Brick

The next season we found a husband and wife team and as I mentioned before, they did such a great job. It was just the two of us, so there was no “crew” in our property. I went straight ahead and told him everything needed to be cleaned every day (we take great care of our landscaping) and no smoking at all. There is nothing worse than people smoking while working in your home. I used to suffer from it when I was younger, but not anymore. The redhead is in charge now.
