We’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about the best taupe hair colors. So today we’re going to share our favorite taupe colors to transform the nursery.

Looking for the perfect DARK greige or taupe for your cabinets, walls or exterior? You have come to the right blog! Today we explore the DARK side of things with Sherwin William’s most popular dark neutrals. But before we start, as always, we need to chat a little (insert wine here).
Depending on your color religion, you either think greige and taupe are the same thing (three light strokes with wet noodles) or they are completely different colors. On this side of the larger color wheel, while both have similar intentions (warmer than gray and cooler than beige), their PROGRESSIONS set them apart.
Greige is one of my FAVORITE lines. Sandwiched between gray and beige, it is also likely to survive a variety of trends because it completely ignores both (refer to gray and beige / trends of the last 20 years). Some rocks have a gray tint, which makes them look a little cooler, while others have a beige tint, which makes them look warmer. But no matter which way they turn, they ALL love a green tone (and rarely, a purple eye).
But while you can see some pretty neutral rocks on the light side of things (their undertones are LOUD), you’ll notice that as the rocks get darker, they pick up MORE undertones. It means there
Popular Gray Paint Colors Picked By The Pros
Like greige, taupe sits between gray and beige and can be slightly warmer or cooler depending on its particular combination. However, VIOLET is a subtle favorite faucet and rarely glows green.
When it comes to darker options, Taupe is JUST as hard as greige and YOU WILL find that the darker the taupe gets, the more VIOLET and BROWN it takes – think twice.
The key to figuring out whether you need greige or taupe is deciding which undertone—green or purple—looks best on your finish! Remember, just because YOU prefer one undertone over another, doesn’t mean your home agrees with you.

The Best Sherwin Williams Gray Paint Colors In 2021
Anonymous is a STUNNER, although I wonder what his REAL name is. Unknown on the heels of the 20th LRV, is a great way to make an impact without going into the DEEP end of the dark field.
Being a greige, Anonymous has a soft green tone. If you don’t like green undertones, this might short you a bit, but it can give subtle but not SCARY finishes that this particular undertone calls for.
As for dark taupe, Mink (and the darker Folkstone) is my Window. However, with the degree of gray in them, it can be said that they can be called warm gray. Both of these colors still have slightly visible purple tones
Fink has an LRV of 21 and is a popular choice for exteriors when it comes to providing a special stone/cobble/roof in a purple color – the same as Folkstone (LRV 14). In the photo above, it’s much easier to see how mink can be considered a taupe, not a warm gray.

When it comes to DARK greige, Keystone Gray is not the first thing that comes to mind because of its depth. However, since it’s on the EDGE and it’s a really cool color, I want to meet you up close.
Keystone Gray is a solid medium-depth gray. And while that means it has a green tone, the reason it’s so great is that it’s so hard to see the colors it’s barely worth mentioning.

Spalding Gray is another lovely taupe that will look warmer when paired with the previously discussed Mink. Spalding Gray is similar to a darker version of the ever-popular Popular Gray (LRV 61), but with its LRV of 22 it has more visual weight.

Oh, you’re good… but not that GOOD! While Garret Gray has a great twist on taupe, until we get to Chateau Brown, well, the name says it all.
REMEMBER, don’t let Warm Stone’s horrible Pinterest page put you off – if you’re looking for a warmer than average temperature, this is it!
Whether it’s on Pinterest or the Sherwin William website, Warm Stone looks cool – I won’t deny it. However, in REAL LIFE, that brown heather has a good gray lens and a small green eye (some people don’t even realize it). If gray and taupe paint colors are too gray for you, this might be the ticket.

Sticks & Stones is TAUPE because it has a slight purple color (LRV 31). It has a similar approach to Keystone Grey, but is slightly lighter and softer with a slightly darker shade.

Mega Greige is a soft medium depth greige with VERY MINIMAL LIND LEAD and an LRV of 37. HOLY COLOR HERE
Fawn Brindle is a BEAUTIFUL gray with a soft green undertone, making it a popular choice for outdoor patios, closets, entire rooms and feature walls (LRV 36). COLOR SHOW HERE
Elephant Ear is a PERSONAL FAVORITE when I’m looking for a warm grey/taupe with a muted purple undertone. With its LRV of 28, it is an excellent choice for a variety of surfaces.
With its LRV of 28, Felted Wool is just shy of having a very good depth. But it’s a great gray with a beautiful green underside.
