Benjamin Moore’s Best Selling Grays
BM Yellow Oak is the lightest color on this list, with an LRV of around 70. This is a popular light, warm gray color that looks almost white if you have a lot of natural light. If you’re looking for a lighter color, try BM in Classic Grey.
BM Balboa Mist is a white paint collection. It is a versatile color that contrasts well with white decor. This light gray can be pink or purple depending on the lighting.
According to Benjamin Moore, Edgecomb Green is organic and soil neutral. If you compare the colors side by side, Edgecomb SW is slightly warmer and lighter than Agreeable Gray and can read beige and gray depending on the lighting.
SW Agreeable Gray is a very popular color choice and is part of the Pottery Barn Fall/Winter 2020 collection. It’s a subtle, neutral gray that usually looks warm, but can look cool depending on the wall and the room. Check out the examples below to see how the same color looks in different rooms.
Benjamin Moore Pale Oak
SW Alpaca is a cool gray color. It has a slight bluish-purple color and can appear gray in some rooms. Although still a light color, it is darker than Agreeable Gray and Edgecomb Grey.
BM Revere Pewter is a popular and versatile classic color. It has a hint of green undertones. If you’re looking for a similar color from Sharon-Williams, try Colonnade Grey.
Colonnade Gray is another good classic gray choice. The color is dark enough to provide a nice contrast to the white trim, and with the LRV 53 it’s a good mid-light choice. Like Revere Pewter, Colonnade Gray can have a slight green tint.
SW Mindful Gray is the darkest of the eight shown here and is a great neutral gray option. Depending on the lighting, it can be a little blue-green. If you want a darker gray, try SW Dorian Grey.

This article is written to help you choose the right color for your home. Grays have a range of colors and although they are very neutral, they reflect color and light in the room. I hope this article helps you find the best garage for your home! I am a big fan of gray wall paint. It’s a great neutral and adds a clean, modern feel to almost any space. However, I have learned that not all greens are created equal. When we first moved in, we painted most of the houses in Brooklyn cool gray (Sherwin-Williams Lattice, to be exact). Although it is a beautiful color, I have always felt that it is a bit cold and bland for my taste. This sent me looking for the perfect gray color that wasn’t too cool but wasn’t in the “builder beige” color category either. Here are my favorites so far. π
This is the darkest color in this post, but I think it would only look great in a larger space that could use a slightly darker color. This color scheme is very popular on Pinterest and it’s easy to see why! I think this color looks great when paired with bold white trim and espresso accents. I was careful not to make the furniture too dark when using this color or the room could feel heavy.
I think this is my favorite so far! It’s thick, which is great because we’re usually dealing with small rooms. It’s a very warm color, but I think different types of lighting during the day would be really interesting with this color.
Sabre Gray (1482)
Well, maybe I lied. This might be my favorite. Plus, if Shi Magi says it’s his favorite gray, it must be good. π A little cooler, but just as awesome. I think this color would be very versatile and could be gray or beige depending on what you pair it with.
It’s closer to the two above, but I see more beige than gray. This would be perfect if you are looking for a light and airy beige color. It’s a nice color and would look great in a traditional home or new construction that already has beige.
I think this color lives up to its name – it sure is good! It’s more gray than beige which I like. It’s not too dark or too bright and I think it would look great almost anywhere.
To me, it’s on the beige side and almost a lighter version of Benjamin Moore’s Peter River, which is great if you like color but don’t want something bright and sharp.
The Best Warm Gray Paint Colors
It always helps to compare colors when they are side by side, so here is a small reference image. My top favorites are Behr Silver Drop and Benjamin Moore Balboa Mist. Am I missing something else? I’d love to hear what colors you like!

Metropolitan is a light-medium gray color with stormy softness. And since Metropolitan is a cool color, you can expect a lot of undertones, including blue, which can turn a little blue-green at any time.
As a cool gray, Metropolitan may seem a bit cold, but its depth and smooth appearance make it fresh and attractive.
Pashmina is a gray color, but it is more solid in beige than gray. And while it likes heat, given the right environment (ie a room facing north or east), it can be very balanced between green and beige.
