I’d be surprised if there’s a bigger paint fan than me. I’ve worked with paint most of my life and I look forward to color predictions like some people look forward to winning the lottery.
Anyway… Sherwin Williams just released their color forecast for 2023 and you can see it all here today. The common theme is “terra” and more than half of the colors have nature-related names.
The Terra theme has 4 different color palettes ranging from soft and muted to light and dark and in between. According to the Sherwin Williams website, the palettes are “inspired by the natural connection between ourselves and our spaces.”

Let’s take a look at our personal favorite, the Biome palette. It is inspired by the earth and the sky and has colors that remind us.

Any room that would benefit from an addition of calm and zen is perfect for the Biome palette. In general, cool colors like blue, gray and green look best in south or west facing rooms. More direct sunlight warms them up a bit.
