After we bought our house in Utah, our contractor and architect came to see if our ideas were feasible. The most important thing they need to check is the changes we want to make in the basement. First of all, it was necessary to determine the girls’ bedrooms. One of the reasons the girls (mainly our oldest Ella) are interested in moving in is to have their own room! That’s why we thought of creating two rooms in the basement for them. And I wanted to talk about ways to make the look a little more attractive.
I told Kevin that we could add false dormers to the front of the house. Or we could add a second floor for the girls’ bedrooms. We told our contractor and architect that we could add the second floor later. The reason for the wait was so we could move into the house ASAP! Well, they offered to do everything now, which makes more sense. So that’s what we do. Build a two-story ranch (and move-in date possible 🙃)!
I know I don’t have to share this, but I feel compelled to share this part of our story and maybe go into more detail about it. All the extras were something we took into account when budgeting and looking for a remodel. This will be our fourth home! We have had a significant return on our investment in each of our homes. It’s about finding housing within our means (less than what the mortgage companies say we can afford). So we had extra money to make changes to the house to increase the value. And a quick sale always helps! We plan to live in this house for a long time.

I thought I’d share the second floor plan so you can see why the second floor is the way it is. We have two windows for each of the girls’ rooms (they get excited about window placement!) As you can see in the exterior plan below, it looks like it could use another window in the middle (I thought it was round), but there are closets. I still like the look
