How To Clean & Seal Terracotta Floor Tiles

The process of laying terracotta begins by applying the adhesive to a smooth concrete or wood floor with a paver, spreading the adhesive evenly and to an even thickness. Always work in controlled areas.
Then place the terracotta over the glue, being careful not to let the glue stick to the terracotta. Allow 5-10 mm of joint space.

After the glue has set, apply an even coat of LTP Cooked Linseed Oil and leave for at least 4 hours before applying a second coat. (Remove excess tile after 1 hour). Apply boiled linseed oil until the terracotta is completely saturated.
After the final coat has set, apply a coat of LTP Antique Wax, let sit for 20-30 minutes and buff with a stiff brush or machine polish.
After polishing the wax, apply the solution with the solution, leave the recommended time and wipe the residue with a sponge.
Once dry, dust off any remaining residue, apply another coat of LTP Antique Wax and let dry overnight.

My client’s problem was the tile floor was very dirty. Tiles have been used for over two thousand years, but due to their porosity and lack of natural surface shine, they are known to collect dirt easily. This dirt can seep in if not removed quickly.
In this particular case, the tiles and trunk lines were very dirty, with a light grease haze staining some of the newly installed tiles. The damaged floor area required thorough cleaning. In addition, most of the old sealant has worn off, the tiles are more dirty and damaged; it must be replaced.
To clean the floor, I first used Tile Doctor Remove & Go, which, as the name suggests, is a powerful multi-purpose cleaner/cleaner designed to remove old sealant left on the surface. Working in sections, I sprayed on the Remove & Go layer before leaving it for about 5-10 minutes.
While the Remove & Go was soaking in, I scrubbed away the membrane lines using a stiff brush. This helped remove embedded dirt and haze from the solution. After finishing the grout, I turned my attention to the tiles, so I added a little water to form a film, which was worked into the affected area using a heavy duty rotary machine and a stiff mixing sponge.

The floor was then cleaned using high pressure hot water tiles and a degreasing system to remove any remaining soil, contaminants, debris and old sealants. After cleaning, the floor is inspected to make sure all problems are resolved. After that it was on to the final rinse.
The floor should then be left to dry overnight. Thanks to the Aga oven and the waterproof membrane under the floor, the tiles and grout were clean and completely dry, ready for sealing the next day.
I sealed the floor with 6 coats of Tile Doctor Seal & Go, which also gave the tiles an aesthetically pleasing sheen.
As you can see in the photo, the cleaning and sealing greatly improved the condition of the tiles and countertops and my client was very pleased.
