The color of this white on the Southeastern Showhouse 2022 Kitchen Walls is wonderful as we are privileged to see it paired with the warmth of the wood cabinets as well as the cool and bold blue color of the cabinets.
These neutral shades with a touch of soft green combine wonderfully with natural linen when you want to create a cozy cocoon.
Steps from Chastain Park in Buckhead, this 2021 newly constructed 8,000 sf show home features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, pool, loggia, gardens and finished basement. Here, at heart, my daily battle with autoimmune disease is real, but I’m coping and having fun. As my husband and I make slow progress in our new home, the days don’t feel like carefree summer days, but I am always aware of the blessings. I hope you notice the little things in your daily life that reveal joy. For me, it’s the melodious birdsong coming from the open window as I paint the trim (all day today!!!), gratitude that my osteoarthritis hip isn’t throbbing, and the relief from the heat that allows me to eat out today.
Physical illness gave me a unique perspective that I may never have experienced. Because I often lack physical strength, I plucked up the courage to continue and learned to draw from the inner landscape.
While some may think it seems fluffy or trivial to put time and thought into painting colors, I also know that colors affect our mood. Let face it. We spend more time at home. The workplace has changed. Social calendars have changed. Houses continue to evolve and function as sanctuary, office, temple, school and healing station.

White can be difficult to choose when painting a house because it sticks very easily to the paint. Often white is perceived as a shade of yellow or even blue and green. So choosing the right white for your room requires a little research and swatching on the walls to make sure you get the perfect white for you!

A friend of mine taught me a little trick we use all the time to choose white for both walls and trim! Use the same color but in different glosses!
We always paint the walls shell or flat and then paint the finish semi-matte. It provides enough contrast to make the finish look almost like another shade of white even though it isn’t. They blend beautifully into the shade, but the finish won’t fade with the color of the wall if the gloss is a bit more shiny!
Of the whites, I definitely have a favorite we had in another house. I am slowly painting almost every room in this house.
Our house is almost entirely painted cloud white by Benjamin Moore. I also used this color on my parents recent renovation and loved it.

However, Cloud White leans a little towards cream, so I always recommend painting swatches on each spot of the color. The lighting and orientation of your home play a big role in how color “reads” your home. It might look pure white in my house, and it might look almost yellow or sea green in yours, so there’s always a swatch.
We ended up trying a new shade of white for our latest renovation project and loved it. We went with Sherwin Williams pure white. It’s much lighter than Cloud White, but has some warmth to it, so it won’t feel cold.
We liked it so much that we used it in our electric fireplace project. Now it’s reflected off our cloudy white walls, but it’s not really white, so it doesn’t look like the blinding white that appears on our slightly warm whitish walls! Thank you God!
As an alternative to both painting the walls and finishing the same white color in a different gloss, we also love using pure white as a finish color. It works with almost any shade of white and gives the finish a little extra pop! Always get a sample first as any home, lighting and decor can drastically change the color of how it looks in your space.
