When I moved in, I painted the walls white and replaced the tiles and fittings with shiny nickel – these changes alone made the place so much brighter!
Side note: Does anyone else think their kids could change the roll if they installed this clear toilet paper dispenser? To make sure the sweet little candies don’t displace the reel, the reel often comes off the handle and falls to the bathroom floor, basically a bathroom test???? the river.
And I painted the faucet. It looked *fine* for the past 5 years but after 3 kids using it daily and scrubbing for years it did.

The original cage was also almond, but when I replaced it, I bought a white one to use with the non-almond cage.
Now we have a vanilla ice cream javafest – almond shower, vanity and ice cream counter, peach backsplash tiled floor and white toilet.
The most expensive part of this project (up to $900) is the fan for both this and the master bathroom. You know what happens if there’s no fan in the bathroom?
Yesterday I whitewashed the walls, ceiling, doors, trim, closets, and shower (about a million times since we moved in!) and today it’s clean and brand new. New fans that will run from the ceiling to the outside will be installed on Friday – not an exciting change in the look of the bathroom, but a huge change in function!!!
How To Cheaply Modernize & Update Your Small Bathroom
We were very happy with the master bathroom (almond/pale white/furniture and flooring) with similar issues. Knowing that we would eventually remodel the place, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it, but a few imperfections made it stand out until one day the bathroom was redone.
Long story short, I’ll be the most boring person on earth and do whatever I want!
Use almond as part of the palette, but tone it down with more white.

But I like a challenge. Anyone can tear down a bathroom and start over, but it’s great to save money and work with what you have!
So when I looked at my client’s photos and they showed me I had bone/almond hardware, a neutral beige floor (praise God) and the space was a bit warmer but the same. For ease of work, they believed me. drink
Now, that doesn’t mean things are any easier, but it does mean that our options for flooring and connections are a bit more diverse. It’s a different story if they’re “right for the time” – blue, bush rose or forest green (forever green) (which is functional and includes many wines. Yes, it’s still relevant…). .
Based on the bathroom photos and questionnaire responses, I came up with 3 options for wall, vanity and decor. Among them, she chose SW Magnetic Gray for the walls, BM White Dove for the trim and SW Night Owl for the Oak vanity.
Beige Bathroom Makeover
As you can see, neutral colored floor tiles make life a lot easier so it’s easy to manage the tile details around the shower.
Note the decorated/painted door. We used white pigeon for a slightly fresher feel. I worry that a more tan/beige tone will make it look too spacious, but I don’t want the white tone to be too bright/bold.
In the future, I may use almond-colored ears instead of white. Thanks for asking, I have an embarrassing ear story! While working at Home Depot, we had a paint workshop where we learned about the finer points of “airing.” And I tell everyone how much I love my ears. Okay fine. It was a good time. “An ear is always an ear,” he later told me. Clearly defined.
It would be fun if they used the same buttons/tops on the dresser drawers! Could be a personal/memory thing though, so I totally get it!
