20 X 24 Carport Plans – This step by step DIY woodworking project is about 12×24 attached carport plans. I have had many requests for a large 12×24 carport with a sloped roof. This car has a heavy 6×6 frame and a roof with a pitch of 3:12. The roof structure is built on sturdy 2×10 rafters, every 24″. This is an easy to build budget friendly wooden carport.
In most cases, planning permission is required so make sure you go to the town hall and ask for information on the legal requirements you need to meet. This way, you will also learn useful details about how to build your car. When building the car, make sure the plans are detailed and come with step-by-step instructions, as well as a complete list of materials. See my master plans HERE.

Dig 3 deep holes and insert the pipe forms, after packing a 2″ layer of gravel at the bottom of the holes. Make sure the 4×4 anchors are perfectly aligned before form the pipe with concrete Flatten the surface and let the concrete dry for a few days Use temporary braces to lock the posts in place, so you can build the structure for the attached car.
In most cases, you won’t get high-quality posts at first. He needs to use a laser level and cut the ends of the posts so that they are perfectly level with each other. Leave the braces in place until you install the rafters.
Build support beams from 6 x 6 boards. Place it over the posts. Use a spirit level to make sure the seams are even. Note the 12″ bars on the sides of the car. Use post to beam fasteners to lock the posts to the beam. Insert 2 1/2″ structural screws to lock the parts securely.
Use a 6×6 board for the diagonals. Make a cut at 45 degrees at each end of the braces. Make sure the corners are square and add braces to the frame. Drill pilot holes and insert 5 1/2″ screws to lock the braces securely in place.

Next, you need to attach 2×8 support beams to the building. Take accurate measurements, as the support beams and scoreboards must be level. Level the beam with a spirit level, drill pilot holes and insert screws into the building to create a tight connection. Remember to read the local codes, so that you use the correct method of anchoring. It also varies depending on the type of retaining wall (wood frame, concrete, brick, etc.).
Use 2×8 boards for the rafters. Mark the cut lines in the rafters and use a circular saw to make the cuts, as shown in the picture.
Then install the roof beam on top of the carport. Place the rafters every 24 inches on center. Use rafters to lock the rafters to the support beams. Drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2″ screws to attach the rafter to the joists. Additionally, I recommend using strong L straps and 1 1/2″ structural screws to lock the rafter to the joists.
Place the 1/2″ plywood on the roof structure, starting at the bottom left side. Align the fluted edges and insert 1 5/8″ screws, every 8″ on the frame. Do not leave gaps between the boards,

Glue the 1×6 trim to the front of the shed. Use 2-inch nails to fasten the trim to the side shoe.
Install the 1×6 battens on the front of the car. Use 2-inch nails to attach the trim to the ends of the rafters. Align the flush edges.
Glue the tar paper over the car at an angle. Align everything and stabilize it properly. Install the drip edge on the sides and bottom of the car.
This car has a simple structure so you can build it easily. Be sure to read local regulations and make any adjustments necessary to accommodate weather conditions.
