White Bathroom With Black Fixtures – Home and style These 4 beautiful bathrooms prove that black and white is never boring. Each makes a strong case for a classic combination.

Designer Sally Finney Kjos sees things in black and white. It’s the foundation of every space in the Chantilly townhouse, which he shares with his two sons and serves as his office/design lab. “I get tired of color, but I never get tired of black and white,” she says, especially with expensive investments like kitchens and bathrooms. “You never want to do anything modern there. You want to be stylish and you want what you love.’

His job is to renovate Kyos’ master bathroom. White walls, cabinets, and subway tile create a dramatic tile in the shower, as well as a clean stage to contrast the black and brass fixtures and accessories. “I’m a big fan of mixed metals,” he says. “Black hardware and jewels are set against Brizo’Litze lamps and gold lighting. It adds a lot of interest.” For the finishing touch, Kjos, her sons and her boyfriend personalized the luxury retreat by painting a black leaf on white canvas that hangs above the bathtub. “I love my bathtub,” she says. “I love it. every day.”

What to do with a bathroom that is primarily for children, but is also a guest when you are in town? “I wanted to do something a little experimental,” says Sapna Mehta of her husband Andy Grimmig’s third-floor bathroom in Kalorama. “I wanted it to be fun, but not like a kid’s bathroom.” Mehta DC architect and designer Carmel Greer was looking for the right type of graphic tile when she was working on a whole house renovation. Mehta knew he’d found “the one” when he saw a Moroccan-inspired fez pattern from a concrete tile company in Granada: “With the game being so busy, I wanted to stick with black and white.”

Greer continued down the slanted shower wall for added effect. “I always raise the tile to the ceiling – I never stop,” he says. “I love everything that is boldly done in a small space. It’s never going to be big, so it can be fun.” Greer finished the design with a simple open shelf and a black mirror. The architect says, “There’s something about black in a bathroom that always feels alive because it’s not yellow or yellow. fade away.”

Beautiful Black And White Bathroom Ideas

When attorneys Taylor Kissig and Rosie Zaklad expanded the basement of their Capitol home, they added an office and a playroom for their two young sons. This means that the downstairs powder room should be a happy medium between cheerful and sophisticated. They turned to Kelly Emerson from Aidan Design for a solution. “Black and white is universal – whether young or old,” says the designer. “We love black and white because it breaks up the colors in accessories like towels, and owners will appreciate the opportunity to add artwork over the years.”

Kissig enjoys the energy that emanates from the contrasting colors, especially in an underground location that is “essentially ominous,” he says. “It works really well because the light there is always the same – it doesn’t change.” The look is particularly successful because the fixtures and fittings, including fancy plumbing, were black, which Emerson says is becoming easier to find: “More [vendors] have black plumbing fixtures – they’re cheaper and easy to find. It’s a way to elevate a thoughtful, designed look.”

“When you say ‘patio,’ people think of a courthouse,” says Carolyn Elleman of Case Design. But these clients have nothing in the upstairs bathroom of their Crestwood home. Elleman and designer Erin Elizabeth Hoopes created the bold space (Hoops later left Case). The bathroom was previously decorated in medieval green and pink. Designers browsed tile catalogs with their clients for inspiration. The couple (who did not want to be named) said they ended up looking for their husband when they turned the pages of a large marble-like Terrazzo Renata sculpture by Anna Sachs. “It’s a statement for the whole bathroom,” Elleman says of the accent wall, which now doubles as a bathroom curtain.

The designers couldn’t expand on the austere look, so a simple, open palette served them well. “The black slate lowers the floor a bit and makes the space feel bigger,” says Elleman. White, on the other hand, pulls the space in, “so it feels cozy but not claustrophobic,” in part because of the void that disappears into the wall and floating elements like the shelf. Black accents and decorative tiles complete the package, but everything supports that strong patio, says Elleman. “When you pull back the shower curtain and see a Dalmatian, it’s definitely a show.” You want your bathroom to be relaxing and clean, so black and white is a universal palette for this space. Stainless steel, gold and even brass fixtures look great paired with it, and the neutral background offers great accessory versatility.
