Best Exterior White Paint For Brick
Paint color? There is an entirely different set of anxiety-inducing concerns. Cost, impact on property value, siding and roof color coordination, and appearance should all be considered. (Bonus: Most whites look enhanced with a ceiling color.)
Picking Exterior Paint Colors: 4 Things To Know
In this inspiration gallery, we explore 8 different options for white. The colors have proven very successful with builders, designers, home owners and color experts.
Even if you decide to keep it white, dear, there are many options. And if you paint on bricks?!?! You want to get the white really right, am I right? Start by looking online at photos of homes that provide color, like those in my archives.
Perhaps the most important tip I can leave you with here is not to fall in love with the paint color (it can be very misleading) or the name of a particular exterior color in a photo that catches your eye.
It’s likely that the right white color for your project depends on (1) your individual eye, (2) the direction of your home and the part of the country or continent you live in, and (3) the colors and textures of the surroundings. country. it will depend on who interacts with white.
Exterior Paint Colors Chart And Exterior House Paint Color Pairings
SW Extra White – @virginia.farmhouse.project…if you need photos to help you decide on the best exterior white paint.
White colors, like all paint colors, have undertones that are often only visible when the color appears next to a bright white with no undertones. The best way to track these tunes? Get a paint sample, paint on a piece of cardboard or paper, and when dry, put it on plain paper for a computer printer.
You can also compare it with other white samples. You will be able to see if the white color has blue or gray undertones, or if it has gold, yellow or warm undertones. (How the sun hits your house will also affect how the white exterior looks to your eyes. Too much saturated yellow sun will obviously warm the white.)
You’ll see the LRV mentioned below and you won’t have to sweat it. These letters stand for “light reflection value” and the number represents the percentage of light reflected by the color of the paint (higher means more light reflected). You don’t need to worry about LRV or know much about undertones if you follow these tips:
Best Front Door Colors
Start with at least 3 white samples that you like and try them at home. Look at the colors at different times of the day. Maybe there will be a clear front. If you don’t sell, choose a few more samples until you land on a winner.
If you can’t decide between two egg whites that are equally amazing, sometimes the answer is to mix them 50/50 for your own egg whites. I did this for the garage doors at our old house. When trying to go with siding, I couldn’t decide between Farrow & Ball’s Cornforth White and Hardwick White. I ended up using them 50/50 and the custom shade was perfect.
It is a beautiful soft white. I’ve heard color experts say that what makes pure white soft is its LRV.
Since the LRV is 84 and the sharp white is in the 90-94 range, this white is more passive.
The Power Of Paint
Pure White also has some warmth, although not as warm as SW Alabaster or Benjamin Moore White Dove.
Perhaps “passive” isn’t the ideal descriptor; I mean, look how pure the white is in the Tennessee brick house above.
SW Pure White – @2kdevelopment…if you need a white house photo gallery to choose the best exterior white color.
Pure white looks calm and soft, like a photo taken outside in a different quality of light.
Painted White Brick Exterior With Black Trim Is A Popular Trend In Houston
If it is pure white and something suitable under the painted houses, the natural light will definitely do its job and the same paint will look different. It reads very cleanly and distinctly on the upper sides, and with the special exposure below it glows warmer.
It is still very popular, although not as commonly used as SW Alabaster (also discussed later in this post).
With LRV 91, Simply White has a high light reflectance and looks clean and creamy in most conditions (although you’ll need to get a sample – no sustainable whites in this post, beware!).
To my eye it’s warm with yellow tones and the exterior photos you see here are a little confusing because it’s cooler than I expected.
Painting A Brick House
Dear! What a wonderful little home shop (above) Monica Hibbs built and painted just plain white! Looks great white with light gray doors! (The color reminds me of how we painted the shutters and trim on our tiny house in 2020…BM Boothbay Gray.)
I love all things Monica Hibbs, and if you also collect gray, here are some of her favorite grays:
If you’re thinking about painting your brick exterior, you’ll find plenty of encouragement and support online! See what’s possible:
It is also useful to look at inspirational photos of the exterior of the house behind brick or vinyl siding. Here’s the board and beauty with the Cedar Shake (or is it sharks?):
The Best Exterior White Paint Colors
But before you’re sold on Simply White, consider a few other tried and true favorites in the design world.
You may know Swiss coffee in the interior, but it can also be elegant and for the exterior of the home.
In fact, this color is so reliable that Benjamin Moore called it “a quintessential white with just the right amount of warmth.” But how do you know what amount of heat is right for your particular context?
With an LRV of 81.91, it is much creamier than the other whites mentioned above. Would it be too yellow or white for your home? Here is a sample answer.
White Brick House Paint Colors And More
If you like Swiss coffee, the video below can help you because one blogger/homeowner chose it for her interior, so you can imagine how she got the perfect white for her needs. all done.
Although I have yet to learn what white paint was used on this wonderful “barn house” in Australia, SW Simply White, BM Swiss Coffee and BM White Dove would be a good starting point to replicate the samples.
Has there ever been a more tried and true white for interior and exterior colors in the history of color? Doubt
Benjamin Moore says White Dove is pure and classic, with an unmistakable style, and designers swear by it in classic interiors for a soft white that won’t change in the daylight.
White Painted Brick Exteriors & Alternatives
I love that the home owner (above) chose it for his new build (above) took it with the other whites and photographed it. What a help for those who need to get started!
When they are grouped like this, you can clearly see the different tones coming from the white.
Although Siperl is not in today’s line-up, I remember the wonderful Showhouse where he played:
How amazing is the corporal with the pashmina!?! But back to the beauty of White Dove with its historic elements and classic charm…
Exterior Paint Color Ideas For A Beautiful Home
It really is something special, and if I ever get the urge to paint my own red brick house, White Dove is the first paint swatch I reach for.
If you’re looking for a warm white, check out SW Oyster White with LRV 72.
Note that looking at a color swatch online (not like khaki?) can be misleading. In fact, many beautiful “white house exteriors” are painted in colors with the word “grey” in them. Because of this, looking at photos online is often a smart place to start, as you begin to understand that the same paint color can look completely different in different exposures.
Here is Oyster White in a completely different brick house style. My parents painted their brick ranch a warm oyster white in the 80’s and the neighbors were amazed! It was such a helpful transition for me to see and probably fueled my love for all things white.
Best Exterior White Paint Schemes
Benjamin Moore called Chantilly lace “a classic white that evokes images of pure cotton and pure silk.” I have to agree.
I am in love with this blonde color
