Are you surprised by the many white colors available? There are hundreds of them, and while many of them will appear white on the walls, interior backgrounds can show up on large surfaces, so it’s necessary to do some research and sampling before painting a room.
The most popular white colors from Benjamin Moore are Chantilly Lace and Super White. They have the smallest particles and therefore appear whiter than the others.
Most all whites have an undertone to them. Warm white with red, yellow and orange in the middle tone. Cool white with green, blue and purple.

For example, reducing yellow oxide or red oxide will make your whites warmer. Throwing in black, blue or green will add a cool tone. More drops and more shadows will affect the depth of color and objects below.
LRV, or light reflectance value, is a number chosen for paint colors to indicate the percentage of light they reflect, or essentially how much light appears on the wall. Values range from 0 (draw all light) to 100 (draw no light or 100%).

White, lighter colors have a higher LRV because they reflect more light and darker colors have a lower LRV because they reflect more light and absorb more of it.
Below are examples of cool and warm white. Remember these will also look white on the wall. They appear here as black because they are on a white background.
This is one reason why it is necessary to see a large sample and test it whenever possible.
Cool white is suitable for rooms facing south. Why? These rooms receive a lot of direct natural light and warm tones from the sun. White with cool undertones will balance the natural warm tone from the southern exposure.

Rooms facing east and north do not have as much warm light as rooms facing south and west. To balance out a colder, brighter room, try warm whites.
Keep in mind that all colors will appear differently depending on factors such as the time of day, the amount of cloud cover, and whether or not there are large trees near the house. These are just more reasons to consider your color choices before making a final decision.

Now let’s look at the most popular white paint from Benjamin Moore, not in particular.
Decorator’s White is a color that has been around for decades and has never been designed. It has been Benjamin Moore’s white standard for many years. It’s a cool, soft gray and looks great in this bathroom. It goes perfectly with the blue ceiling and black floor.
Another classic Benjamin Moore color for decades, China White is also very neutral and goes very well with the black doors and brick floor in this post. He admitted that it was a very cold white.
