How To Remove Dried Slime From Clothes – Slime, a favorite childhood toy, will inevitably end up on your carpet, but you can clean it up with things around the house.
Loved by kids and loathed by parents, slime is usually made with glue, a little water and borax or contact lens solution. It assembles quickly and gets bright shades from food coloring. Youngsters love it, and you clean it yourself when that favorite ball smears on the carpet or sticks to your child’s favorite t-shirt.

Indoor algae can be removed from carpet by freezing with ice cubes and then scraping.
Ice cubes. If the mucus discharge is still fresh, apply ice or ice packs for 10-15 minutes to cool the mucus, then scrape it off the carpet and vacuum.
The results: I was shocked at how well it worked. After removing the ice, I saw a carpet of water and thought it could only go down from there, but it cleared up quickly and didn’t seem to have any colored residue. After I let it dry and vacuumed it looked great.
Paint, Crayon, Slime And Other Kid Messes — And How To Clean Them
Result: After letting the carpet cleaner sit for about five minutes, I applied small circles with a sponge dipped in warm water. I used the soft porous side as well as the green scrub side and it still looked a little blue. Reviving the sponge water seemed to help, but the blue residue remained. The carpet cleaner also created soap suds that I had to soak up with a towel. The vacuum seemed to pick up the last few blue deposits stuck to the carpet.
Club soda. Remove as much dirt as possible by scraping with the end of a butter knife and vacuuming up any loose bits. Sprinkle baking soda on the stain and wait for about five minutes. Wipe with a towel to absorb excess baking soda.
The results: After wiping with a towel, it still required wiping. The green exfoliating side of the sponge did it.
WD-40. Spray WD-40 on the sludge and let it sit for a few minutes. Clean with a brush, apply warm water and wipe with a sponge.

Result: I scrubbed the stain with a sponge and warm water, but the algae embedded deep in the fibers wouldn’t budge. After vacuuming, most of the blue particles came out, but the carpet was very greasy and definitely smelled like WD-40. When I moved the carpet there was a very obvious grease stain on the back. WD-40 worked, but it doesn’t seem worth damaging the carpet base or dealing with the greasy feel and smell.
Goo Gone. Apply Goo Gone to the stain and brush to loosen. Wait about 10-15 minutes before vacuuming.
The results: Of all the methods, this one left the most mucus, and suction was not far behind. Like WD-40, Goo Gone left behind a greasy carpet. It still smelled nice because Goo Gone smells like oranges.
Baking soda and vinegar. Mix a 2:1 solution of vinegar and water. Sprinkle baking soda on the slime stain, then spray with vinegar and water. After 10 minutes, scrub the stain with a scrub brush and wipe off excess baking soda and slime particles with a paper towel. Apply warm water to the stain and allow to dry before vacuuming.

Results. I think baking soda and vinegar will always work for me. Unfortunately, after vacuuming and drying, the stain looked a little lighter than the surrounding carpet when cleaned with vinegar and baking soda.
Vinegar and water. Mix one part hot water with two parts vinegar. Spray on the stain and scrub the dirt off the carpet with a soft brush. Use a dry paper towel to blot the stain. After drying, vacuum it.
The results: It seemed to remove the stain immediately with the brush. A soft blue tint remained on the carpet after brushing, but disappeared after it was dried and vacuumed.
Dish soap. Mix 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap with 2 cups of warm water in a spray bottle. Spray on the stain and wait 2-4 minutes. Spray the stain again and absorb the slime particles with a sponge or cloth. After removing the stain and algae, give it a final soak in warm water and let it dry.

Result: For this method, I used dish soap without vegetable dyes. It worked just as well as ice, vinegar, and water, but since it’s dishwashing liquid, it produced soapy suds that I had to clean with a paper towel.
