I wish I could give more specific context about when the house was built, but it’s a puzzle. The house has been rebuilt and added to over the years, so it is difficult to tell which parts are original. Architecturally and stylistically, it seems to be a mix of the 1950s, 1970s and maybe even the 1980s.
Let’s start by looking at the notes on the primary suite area and the built-in floor plan where I described what doesn’t work.

The placement of the stairs intersects the second floor, creating a narrow space to the right of the stairs that serves no real purpose. The placement of the sliding glass doors also complicates the presentation of the space due to the need to leave free space for circulation.

Here we have a conflict between the door that leads directly to the bathroom and the entrance that leads to the closet. The bathroom door must be closed to enter.
