Valspar Gray Paint Colors At Lowes – It’s no secret that I love gray and Valspar paint. I never thought I’d have a specific brand of paint that I loved, but I’ve bought Valspar consistently over the years. It’s inexpensive and looks great in our house and on our textured walls. Since updating the color scheme in our home, I tried several Valspar grays before settling on the perfect shade, Seashell Gray.
Since I’ve tried so many gray shades, some of them have become my favorites. Gray is a tricky color and each color is very different for different homes. Samples required! I liked the look of the muted gray in the store and on Pinterest, but it was too purple in our house.

Some shades of gray may look too purple or too blue. Then you have to use these samples to find the right one! And if you find the right one for your home, you can even use the same color from the same swatch. Our wall color (Seashell Grey) and our interior door color (Filtered Shade) are the same swatch. And when I was building my own DIY fireplace, I thought about painting it Rocky Bluffs because I knew it would look great in our house. This is also on the same model. I’m sure you know by now that I’m a loyal girl when it comes to painting, and I’ve had long-term relationships with Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams over the years (Ben and Sherm privately). However, when Lowe’s came to town, I was very impressed with Valspar and its range of colors. I ordered a bunch of fans and a week later Val and I were officially engaged.

Now, I’m still learning a lot about these colors (learning never stops, really), but I wanted to share four of my favorite taupes with you since I’m the first to feature this color palette on my blog. line…
This is probably my favorite gray in the Valspar range. Notre Dame is the perfect depth: not too light, not too dark and with very few noticeable undertones, it’s just a soft, supple, slightly cool gray with a slight hint of cool green. Not cold and icy, just cool undertones.

Gravity is a nice cool gray with a subtle cool purple undertone and is the freshest of the bunch. Warm purples can lean towards pink, cool purples can lean towards blue – that’s great. Compare that Bad Boy to Notre Dame and you’ll see that pop nuance. That doesn’t mean you’ll have “purple” walls, you won’t, but like most grays, you’ll have some.
Tempered Gray is a cool gray with a subtle stony (not stony… stony) look that gives it a slightly more earthy feel than Gravity’s fresh, clean look.
I love it (but really, is there one I don’t like? The filtered shade is a beautiful light gray with a slightly warm touch to it (without looking remotely cheesy). 4 out of 4 “The most beautiful”. And UBER subtle purples/browns shades.
And I would appreciate it if you would keep my romance with Valspar a secret. Ben and Sherm can be sensitive about these things, so I’m keeping it under wraps for now. Just kidding: they don’t actually know I exist (like most of my fake boyfriends growing up) and I don’t get paid for promoting their brand – I just love them!
