If you’re looking for the perfect gray to update any room in your home, Benjamin Moore Classic Gray OC-23 is for you. Gray is a combination of beige and gray.
Nice to go from the Tuscan date movement (speaking from experience) or any other perspective. It will look different depending on the lighting in your room.
Overall this color has a warm tone and can appear almost purple when it first hits the wall. I have to admit I was intimidated at first, especially since we painted the entire first floor in classic gray.
After about a week the color developed and was very beautiful. When you paint a room it is important to wait until everything is in order before you make a decision.
Benjamin Moore Pale Oak Vs Classic Gray: How To Choose?
To help you decide if this color is right for you, I’ve put together my favorite images to inspire your next project. The transformation in our home is pretty amazing, if I do say so myself.
Benjamin Moore’s classic gray is a warm neutral color. The popular color is listed as off-white in the Benjamin Moore Color Deck, but it’s anything but.
When paired with the Simply White OC-117 liner, contrast and almost any gray color is easy to see. It’s soft and soothing, perfect for any modern, contemporary space.
Classic gray is grayer than beige. It leans on the warm side, especially in dimly lit rooms.

It has a purple tone that can be seen when the paint is first applied. I have to admit I was a little nervous at first, but I trusted the process.
Once the second coat was applied and dried, I was amazed at the finished product. It’s the perfect neutral to complement the hard finishes in our home.
Yes, greige is still popular in 2023 and can be found on walls, cabinets, trim and more. Whether you’re designing with beige or gray neutrals, it will be a great help.
Trendy neutrals look great with white, gray and black. It also pairs well with warm brown tones if that’s more your vibe.

Regardless of the room you’re designing, it’s always important to start with the floor plan of your space. I know I sound like a broken record, but a floor plan will help you avoid costly mistakes.
Once you get the measurements you can order your furniture with confidence. This video will help you create a floor plan based on the dimensions of your space.
The upstairs living room features classic gray walls in a matte finish with bright white satin trim. If your space has a lot of traffic or you have children, use eggshell on the walls with a semi-gloss finish.
It is more forgiving especially when it comes to cleaning fingerprints and walls. Since we are past the entertainment and kids phase, we don’t have to worry about it.

In this design, there is a mix of warm and cool gray colors. You can see the contrast between the yellow base of the walls and the cool gray of the carpet.
It’s perfectly fine to mix the two in your space too. You have to remember to balance the different tones throughout the room.
This will help create flow and movement in your design. Another tip is to layer textures and patterns when designing with neutral colors.
There are fur, velvet, linen and twill fabrics that make up and down. Mixed metals are also used throughout the space, along with wood and concrete.

The color palette is warm and inviting with white, black, gray and beige. Touches of silver and gold are used to complete the look.
The original space of the above room was designed during the Tuscan movement. There was a lot of slate and warm colors. To update the look to a timeless classic neutral palette, the slate was painted black.
For this, caliper primer was used to seal the slate. Black semi-gloss paint was then applied to the tile line and grout line.
This was an affordable solution that got the results we were looking for. Replacing the chalkboard with new tiles would have cost much more.

Another change was the addition of a black accent wall. For this, we used Benjamin Moore Obsidian Century Varnish which has since been discontinued.
I love using new products but I have to say it becomes a problem when they stop making them. Personally, I thought Century Paint was great.
We still have some, so it should be good if we touch up. BM complements classic gray walls perfectly.
Now that the wall is black, put in the television that blends. My husband loves a good TV show and would probably cry if it was taken away.

A black wall is softened by cream fabric panels trimmed in gray faux silk. There is also a white fireplace painted in Simply White OC-117 with a semi-gloss finish.
During the Tuscan period, the cover with yellow stones was the white dove OC-17. Just one bright color will bring out the classic gray in a white room.
When you first enter our home, the first place you see is the living room. A previous project had rusty Venetian plaster that was difficult to replace.
The walls were to be leathered, primed and then painted. Here we have also used Benjamin Moore Classic Gray OC-23 in a matte finish.

This was paired with an accent wall of grassy wallpaper in metallic silver. This turned out amazing! Since wallpaper isn’t cheap and this space is open, we chose one wall instead of the entire space.
It was too big and too convenient to build all the walls. The front sitting room still uses neutrals, but pops of color are drawn from Leftbank’s artwork.
Classic gray looks elegant with navy, blue and fuchsia pink. The space also features mixed metals and black accents that tie in with the living room design.
The living room has a large window that lets in plenty of natural light. The lighting in your room will definitely affect the appearance of the color.

The living room has sunlight from the east which is very bright in the morning. In the evening, the living room enjoys a more intense light that changes color during the day.
For this reason, it is extremely important to always monitor the color of the walls of your home at different times of the day. Don’t just paint a box on the wall!
The best way to determine the color of your walls is to get sample panels from your local paint store. Buy a test sample and paint two coats on the board.
Then take that board and place white construction paper behind it. Move it around your room and see the color at different times of the day.

You know by now that I love BM Classic Gray OC-23, which is why we used it on the first floor, including the kitchen, living room, Airbnb, and hall. It was a radical change that made the whole place light and airy.
Benjamin Moore Classic Gray OC-23 was also used in the hallway. The main floor has an open floor plan, so using one color throughout the area makes it feel more spacious.
Stair risers and crown molding feature Simply White OC-117 in a semi-gloss finish. In this picture you can really see the difference between the two tones.

Despite the fact that the classic gray deck has white tones, it is clear that it is a gray-beige combination. It’s also the perfect neutral background for future gallery frames.
The beauty of color in an open floor plan is that it creates flow and consistency. Gone are the days where colorful tones occupy the space.
Another area where we used classic gray was the Airbnb bedroom. The area used to be an office but after the boys left we realized that the house was much bigger and had lots of space.
So we moved the office upstairs and turned the room into a bedroom. We want to appeal to the masses and the best way to do that is with a neutral color palette.

The transformation of this area has been very significant. This room has 9 foot ceilings so light colors open it up.
