Vinyl Siding And Shutter Combinations – Exterior colors for your home or new construction can be the most difficult decision a homeowner can make. The options for exterior color combinations are endless and overwhelming.

Owners of existing homes are characterized by solid surface treatment (brick and stone roof). The creators of the staging (flyers) usually give versions that do not contradict each other, but still have problems.

Exterior finishes are the first decision a homeowner makes after signing a contract for a new home and are usually required to obtain a building permit. My family recently started a new build, so we’re going to show you the process in a new series of building blocks.

We chose Richmond American (not a block sponsor) as our builder because they have a good reputation in our area and their quality is excellent.

Before we share our favorite exterior paint colors, let’s make sure we’re all on the same page about the different types of new construction exteriors and home exterior finishes.

The guidelines for new construction are the same as for existing homes. The difference is that new construction requires a roof and hard finishes like stone or brick. With an existing home, you are limited to the roof and existing stone or brick.

Start searching for exterior paint color palettes on Pinterest and find homes nearby with your favorite color palette. Keep it simple. You can choose a combination of collisions for most elements. If you have samples, look at them together in natural daylight.

When choosing an exterior paint color, you can never forget the true exterior of your home: the surroundings, the ground, and the light around it! Make sure your color choices match your neighbors. Don’t reuse it and try to follow the neighbor’s style.

It should be remembered that the paint color is 4-5 times lighter than the interior or surface color, and the exterior color is lighter. One of the most common mistakes homeowners make is choosing colors that are too light or too bright when painting their exterior.

How colors look on the outside depends on where you live. For example, a large forest area with lots of green trees will bring a lot of green light into the house and emphasize the green accents already present in the paint.

The intensity of the sun in your area also has an effect. Homeowners living in Florida get more sunlight than New Yorkers, which can make light or white paint look overpowering. The same problem can occur in high altitude areas such as Colorado where the color concierge is located.

For new construction, first choose a roof and stone or brick. Set the settings to finish busy. For example, select only one battery, even if two are connected. Choose either stone or brick, but not both. Don’t feel like you have to collect stones or bricks. Just because it’s included doesn’t mean you should use it. If the battery is busy, choose a single color canopy.

The key is to keep the finish to a simple stone and brick pattern. This will make it easier for you to choose the brick color and exterior paint.

Exterior Paint Color Combinations To Try

One of the best ways to create a cohesive exterior paint color is to match the paint to one of your chosen stone colors.

Because brick and stone are earthy materials, you’ll want to choose earthy paint colors like white and light brown. For example, a color such as Manchester Tan by Benjamin Moore is one of the exterior colors used with red brick.

Another way to create a combination of brick paint and exterior paint is to match the color of the brick or stone to the exterior color of the house.

For red bricks, they are usually greenish gray. Finding similar colors used on the house’s exterior creates a harmonious exterior color palette.

Colors such as Sherwin-Williams’ Fawn Brindle or Benjamin Moore’s Rockport Gray are good examples of gray with green undertones that are not too bright for outdoor applications.

As we’ve seen earlier in this post, whether you’re choosing a new construction look or working on a home renovation, many different parts of your home’s exterior will be painted. Each part of the exterior needs individual consideration when choosing a paint color.

Typically, you’ll want to set the paint color to one trim color, door color, base body color, and sometimes a secondary color. If you choose a complementary body color, use it to highlight architectural features such as gables or for additional materials such as clapboards.

How To Choose The Right Exterior Paint Colors

A large percentage of households have white plastic windows. If this is the case with your house, then it is better to paint their surroundings with white paint. With bright colors, the frame disappears in the decor. Dark window treatments with white vinyl accents make the white vinyl stand out and can look cheap.

But don’t try to match the white of your windows. Remember – light colors look bright from the outside, so you can choose a slightly darker color to create a smooth transition between the window and the brick or stone side.

For exterior white decor, I like dark and warm colors like Sherwin-Williams Oyster White and Zurich White. Exterior paint colors include Benjamin Moore, Classic Gray or Edge Gray as trim colors. If your side is too light, you can choose Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa or Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee.

Many bloggers recommend Benjamin Moore White Dove or Alabaster as a white finish. This is usually not our preference as a white dove can be very bright outside and can turn alabaster yellow. This is another reason to check the paint color very carefully.

If you have black windows, be careful when choosing a window color. Your black color may seem too heavy. Instead, consider white trim or using the body as a window covering. Another option is to paint the body.

The facade is usually (but not always) the same color as the trim or window. Use a black roof, especially the white part, for a modern farmhouse look. Dark brown roof tiles can work well with dark earth tones and rust color palettes.

The green facade on this historic home matches the green roof and is quiet enough to blend well with the beautiful brickwork.

We really love a white ceiling, especially since many homes have white vinyl siding. Make sure you choose a white that is warmer than you think. If the varnish is too white, it will look dark. In general, a house with white trim will look lighter from the outside.

What Colors Should I Choose For My Siding And Roof?

If possible, paint ceilings and porch roofs the same color as the facade for an overall look. The front porch’s white paneling and panels brighten the interior by reflecting the interior light. Painted paint next to a window can actually reflect that paint on the inside and affect the appearance of the interior paint.

If you have a black dashboard, think carefully about whether you want to paint the roof black or the body. I really like the black headliner/fascia combo, but it can look heavy if the headliners are wide.
