For good results, remember before using any type of paint, no matter how good the paint, the preparation of the concrete is just as important as the product. I learned this the hard way! Not every type of paint is suitable for concrete, so you should stick to paints made specifically for exterior concrete.

Consider this: Most concrete coatings are made with epoxy, which I don’t recommend for porches and decks. Why? Of course, they are recommended for garage floors and look like garage floors. Unless this is the look you want for your porch, I recommend choosing a different color. I can’t judge whether you like it or not. I also like to break the rules. I personally have no idea what my porch or outdoor patio will look like.
That’s why I didn’t include products like rust-oleum. Their concrete coats are often sold as garage coats.

What is your budget? Does your local home improvement store have pre-made concrete porch paint? Let’s face it; nobody wants to drive far when you’ve used a lot of paint. Or you don’t want to wait for us to send it to your home, do you?
When I paint a concrete porch, the colors I use are not necessarily the most recommended. I used a local home improvement store near my house. Yes, that’s who I am. If I run out of paint, I want to get more in a few minutes so I can continue my project.
I would also like concrete paint or solid concrete stain in different colors. Many recommended garage floor paint brands only offer standard grays such as grey, brown, black and off-white. I like to add pops of color.
So today I wanted to share what I used first and why. And what other companies would I use because of the options they have and the reviews they get. It is easily available in different colors at a good price and is obviously my first choice.
Best Exterior Paints For Wood
I used one can of Olympic RESCUE IT!® in white and one in black on our striped front porch. I have nothing bad to say about this solid paint stain. It’s actually called a “resurfacing agent” and is good for old wood and concrete. It is a high performance 100% acrylic deck resurfacing and concrete sealer that fills cracks up to 1/4 inch.
Painting our covered front porch took a long time. I replaced the old paint just because I wanted a different and unique look, not because the paint was damaged. Not sure why it got mixed reviews on their website. It sounds like someone who used it on a questionable old wood floor might not be happy with it, but I used it on our custom concrete patio. I am very satisfied. One of the reasons I chose it is because it is very affordable (actually cheaper than all the colors listed today) and there are tons of colors to choose from. Plus, it’s sold at our local Home Depot. When I wanted to repaint our porch, they didn’t sell it anymore so I chose another brand. Now they are back on the market.

In Pennsylvania, we have cold winters and hot, humid summers. The paint on our porch needs to stand up to tough times. Our front porch is also busy. I’m happy to report that I encountered no problems.

This durable 100% acrylic latex topcoat resists mold, mildew, fading, cracking and peeling. It is also the second cheapest color listed in this article.
For the next new color on our porch, I used a low gloss polish because the polish was slippery. I wouldn’t say I like the look of the glossy paint on the floor that much. If the concrete porch or patio has a smooth surface, I would use Behr Porch and Patio Non-Slip Floor Paint to make it safe to walk on.

Sherwin-Williams Porch and Floor Enamel is a popular choice for painting concrete porches because it is durable, waterproof, and available in a variety of colors. Available in satin finish. Apparently it can withstand even the strongest household chemicals, but I can’t confirm this.
Available in low or high gloss, this floor paint is a fast-drying latex floor enamel that is resistant to soap and grease, grease and oil. Highly recommended for basements, balconies, terraces, corridors, showrooms and light industrial applications.

I really like the Kilz color. I use their primers for most of my painting projects and love them. Although I haven’t used Kilz Porch & Patio floor paint, I don’t think their concrete paint is bad, and it gets good reviews.

When our laminate kitchen cabinets were peeling, I coated the kitchen cabinets with INSL-X Cabinet Coat. I am very happy with the finished painting. So I’m sure their concrete clothes are great too.
