Sherwin Williams Extra White Trim – Sherwin Williams Extra White is a popular off-white for trim, cabinets and walls. Check out this lacquer paint to see why it’s one of SW’s most popular white paints and why it’s a good choice for your home.
Sherwin Williams claims that Extra White is their “best white”, which is technically incorrect. They have a really white color – Sherwin Williams High Reflective White.
Sherwin Williams Extra White Trim
On interior walls, Extra White looks like pure white, with a slight gray tint that is soft enough.

With LRV 86 it is pure white, with another color, High Refractive White, which is brighter (there is LRV 93). If you’re looking for a slightly less stark white, pure white might be a good choice.
What is LRV? LRV, or Light Reflectance Value, is a number that indicates how light or dark a color is on a scale of 0 to 100. The closer the number is to 100, the brighter it is (white is the lightest). The closer the number is to 0, the darker (black) it is.
Like all whites, extra whites have their own unique sounds. Extra White is a very light white with a slight gray tint. It looks great next to a color palette of other cool colors like gray and blue.
Despite what the RGB values (238/239/234) show, there is no clear yellow tone in real life. He always reads in a cool gray, even slightly blue voice.

Extra White is usually used for trim and ceilings, but I’ve seen it used on interior walls. If you prefer a cool color palette, you can use the extra room in different parts of the house, such as living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom and bedrooms.
Extra white is also a great exterior color. Even though our trim is factory white, the Extra White is a perfect match (I know because I painted the trim around the front door and it matches perfectly!).
Extra white is slightly lighter than pure white, with LRV (86) being a pure white with a slight blue undertone, although it appears brighter.
Pure White is another popular Sherwin Williams color. Has LRV 84. Not really bright, pure white. It has just the right softness to keep the white off your face (due to the gray and yellow drop).

Pure White is a better choice when mixing warm and cool colors. If you only want cool shades (grey, blue), extra white is a good choice. I wouldn’t combine extra white with warm wall colors like cream or beige.
Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace is a neutral white with an elegant undertone. On the other hand, extra white is cool white. Chantilly Lace is a versatile white that will work in most rooms and give you a fresh white look.
Although Extra White is beautiful, in north-facing rooms or rooms with morning or afternoon light, you may find that the blue tone creeps in, especially if you’ve used this color on walls or cabinets.
BM Decorator White has a purple/grey undertone that keeps it on the cooler side, similar to Extra White. However, with an LRV of 82.64, it is darker than extra white. Like complementary white, this is also a limiting choice if you want to paint your walls a warmer color.
My Secret Formula For The Best White Paint Color • Vintage Revivals
SW Alabaster is not a traditional bright white and actually falls into white territory. It’s a warm white with soft gray undertones. If you are looking for a traditional white frame, Alabaster is not what you are looking for. If you plan to paint your walls alabaster and complement them with white, they will not look good together.
Anyone who says that off-white has a slightly warmer tone than cool white probably has a paint color in a south-facing room and doesn’t understand how light can change the appearance of a color.
A bright white color, such as complementary white, will pick up color from the environment and the light. This way, the extra white won’t feel cold in the southern sun and will look like a nice neutral white.
Of course, it can also reflect the green color of your window, the color of your furniture and the bright red dress you put on the couch. So keep that in mind.
Best Sherwin Williams White For Cabinets
The combination of extra white with other colors of varnish will emphasize its blue tone. If you keep other paint colors cooler (gray, blue, green), the blue tone will be neutralized.
When dealing with already white walls, you have two options – keep the same shade of trim with a different shade, or paint a lighter white color with similar tones.
The most popular option for extra white will be to paint it extra white, but make it a satin or semi-gloss color, as opposed to a matte or egg color on the wall. The additional gloss will make the color brighter and offer sufficient contrast between the wall and the finish.
Another option is to use SW High Reflective White, which is significantly brighter and relatively neutral when it comes to tones.
My Favorite White Paint Colors
As with any paint color, it’s important to test them in your home first. The light that enters your room can have a big impact on the appearance of white shades, just like any other color in the room.
If you’re using a complementary color as a complementary color, I wouldn’t worry too much. It’s a beautiful decorative color that works anywhere if you want a bright white look. When you start using it on cabinets or as a wall color, you need to think carefully about the lighting in your room to avoid the possibility of your room looking a little gray or blue.
If you find that the cool tones of SW Extra White don’t suit your home, warm white may be a better option.
Remember – regardless of what you read or see online, it’s important to test paint colors before trying them yourself!
