Why does everything seem like it’s going to fall apart when we start redecorating the room?! I’d rather spend the money on fun things like lights and pretty pillows than burying it in the ground so our grass can grow!

This past weekend I spent a day painting and painting the raw cabinets we bought at Home Depot. We bought two wall cabinets when they had a 20% off stock cabinet and that’s why I decided to shop at IKEA even though I love IKEA. I forgot to take a picture before I painted, so here’s a picture from the Home Depots website…

I love the white from IKEA! I think it’s perfect! So I did what any other reasonable color lover would do… I took the protector apart and got a piece to match the color 🙂
I have to close the box before I start anything. They are a little rough, especially since they are raw around the edges. When everything is smooth, dust with a dry cloth, then again with a dirty cloth and wipe dry. I also removed the door and hardware. Once the cabinets are cleaned, I can get them. Since I painted the inside of the cabinet with gloss laminate, I opted for an oil-based primer. I want the color to follow smoothly.
When the primer dries and cures a bit, I take out the sprayer and dilute IKEA white paint according to the manufacturer’s instructions. I like to use spray paint on cabinets and furniture with a roller or brush because it makes Professional finish that cannot be duplicated! In addition, the speed at which everything is drawn makes the process fun!

We also built a small 2×4 platform to lift the cabinets off the floor and give them some height after we set them up in the room. Nothing fancy, just cut to size, drill holes and screws with wood screws.
This is completely our style and standard. But the word on the street is that my mother-in-law is coming to town at the end of March, so we’ll have to Hurry up! I think we will make it in time (thinking about installing the IKEA PAX closet system?
Jeff and I have shared a small closet in the master bedroom for 7 years, so when we decided to put in a master bath (you can see our master bath reveal if you missed it) you can bet I went along with it. -In the closet in that child. ! Choosing our wardrobe was easy because we installed it in our old house and we liked it: the IKEA PAX wardrobe system. Our new closet is to the left of the pocket door as you enter the bathroom from our bedroom:
It’s a cheap standard 6-panel door, but we embellished it by adding satin brass instead of the usual small round handles.
But first, I will talk quickly about how to start designing your IKEA closet. Your wardrobe system is built with the PAX wardrobe frame (available in three widths, two depths and two height options) and then customized with KOMPLEMENT accessories. Since our new closet is where our old bathroom will be, our closet width is limited to 6.5 feet. This means we will have room for a 22″ deep cabinet frame on one side, but only for a 13″ deep frame (if we make all the frames 22″ deep, there won’t be enough room between the cabinets):
During the construction process, we were able to customize the length of our cabinets: we designed 3 cabinets on each side (two 39″ wide frames at the end + 19″ wide) to fit each side. Here’s a quick iPhone photo of what it looked like when we placed the PAX closet frame in our new space.

The closet frame is attached to the back wall above the frame with drywall anchors and attached with fasteners near the bottom and near the top. Adjacent cabinet drilled a hole first and put a screw and tighten).
Quick Tip: Be sure to put screws into unused holes in any of your interior fittings so you don’t have to re-drill.
IKEA cabinets with a depth of 13 inches are not enough for a common clothes rail, but IKEA has a good solution for providing hanging space: they give you the option of hanging clothes in front:
It’s not easy to find something by looking quickly when you hang it this way, but it works perfectly for things that aren’t used every day, like my clothes. And if you need extra hanging space to dry a few things or hang clothes you plan to wear the next day, a rail is a great feature.
The One White Trim And Wall Color That Works Every Time
Under my rail, I have a 39-inch pant hanger that complements my skirts with regular shelves that separate them.
My 13 inch deep size fits one pair of pants per hanger (as long as they don’t overlap) and the 22 inch deep size fits two pairs of pants with a slight overlap. I put all my pants that tend to wrinkle on these hangers, but all jeans, leggings, joggers, and others. I keep it in a drawer.
IKEA fits its shelves in all possible width and length options. I’ve used them in several places in my closet: on the top drawer of each closet on the left side of our closet (keeps the stuff in the drawer from getting dusty), on my pants hanger, on most of the closet. Fits large storage baskets and medium-sized floor-to-ceiling baskets in the center cabinet to the right of our shelves;
I use them to store my travel bags and toiletries, swimwear, hats and caps, coats, belts, hair accessories and slippers – they’re perfect! They are medium sized and I use them for labels.

I added a 39-inch wide cabinet at the end of our closet with us and I love them.
IKEA also has other options for shoe storage. I pulled the shelves out of an old IKEA closet and I definitely like these shoe shelves better, but it’s all personal preference.

Starting at the top, each closet has 1 or 2 large shelves that hold some of my winter boots, tote bags, large travel bags, etc.
I have all my short-sleeved shirts in the left closet frame, long dresses and jumpsuits in the middle closet frame, and shirts Long in the right closet frame. One thing I absolutely swear by are velvet hangers that save space.
