I spent a lot of time researching the best blue to use, and I think I’ve found a winner for our home. But, since natural light can play a big role in how color looks in a home, I’m sharing my other picks with you too!

Our Favorite Blue Paint Colors By Benjamin Moore. — Elana Cohen Interiors

We painted our front door Benjamin Moore Hale navy. I love the color but it’s a little dark in our entryway that doesn’t have much natural light. The door also took a bit of a beating during the kitchen renovation last summer and needs a new coat of paint or whatever. I decided that I wanted to go with a muddy blue gray with some green (as opposed to purple). Something relaxing and calm and reminds me of the beach, but not too blue or “childish”. And although I use blue gray in a very coastal room, the shade would look great in a more modern style!

I spent hours researching the internet and asked many of my readers what their favorite options were. After receiving all the answers, I am sharing the best blue! Surprisingly, no Sherwin-Williams paint made the list. I think they look great in green versions of these colors (like Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt). Here are my top picks for the best blue palette!

At the bottom of this post, I am sharing real life examples of these colors in real life! I’m also sharing a fun update to our entryway using my favorite color blue! In early 2019, I tested three color samples on our front door. From left to right you will see (all Benjamin Moore): Wedgewood Gray, Van Courtland Blue, and Water’s Edge. They are all good choices so I don’t think we can go wrong with them!

This time, I just used paint pots from Benjamin Moore! I chose Benjamin Moore Water’s Edge and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! I’m still a little obsessed with our stuff. It’s indoor/outdoor and indestructible! It comes in many sizes but is sometimes divided into individual items.

Our Favorite Blue And Gray Paint Colors

As an update to this original post, I used Benjamin Moore Van Courtland Blue on my cabin earlier this year. It is very different in our house compared to the house above. But both versions are equally good! Our cave faces west, so it gets a lot of hot sun in the morning, making it very green. I think the laundry room above doesn’t get direct natural light and that’s probably one of the biggest reasons they’re different!

Perhaps the grayest of all options, Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray is a popular choice for doors (interior and exterior) right now! Another chameleon that looks blue in some lights and gray in others. I tried to test this color personally, and it looks like it

In our last house, we used Behr Light French Gray and it has a nice tone (like one shade lighter and one shade darker). It’s a beautiful vibrant color that looks more blue in some lights and more gray in others. It creates a calm and good feeling anywhere and we love having it in our bathroom!

Favorite Green Paint Colors For The Home — Liven Design

Benjamin Moore Santorini Blue is another beautiful gray blue option, as shown in the living room below! This is the nickname and it is the same color as Benjamin Moore Nantucket Fog!

We chose to use this color on the island in our pool house, too! It is a true chameleon and has very blue tones at certain times of the day and gray tones at other times! You can see more pictures at different times of the day to measure color here.
