Look to the future, we’ve been in business long enough to make accurate predictions about what trends are trending.

Have staying power. These top exterior paint colors for 2021 have us excited to start designing. Warning: This article may require you to pick up a brush and paint this weekend.
Case Study: Green Gray Exterior Paint Colors
Brick&batten offers specialized services in exterior home design. If you want to take on the project as a DIY or use local contractors, we can help. After studying your preferences and project goals, we design the exterior of your home with a realistic perspective and provide a handy grocery list so you know exactly what you need to live.
You’ve heard it here before. Off-white is the hottest exterior paint color right now, and it’s here to stay in 2021. To nail this, choose a creamy white heat. We especially like Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee and Seapearl. Both colors are warm white, but Swiss Coffee is slightly brighter than Seapearl. We never recommend strict, true white to our true design clients, so seeing these warm whites paired with wood accents is a surefire way to go.
We, for one, are very happy that gray is slowly starting to divide the streets, because it provides an alternative to beige. Although we have seen the decline of strict grays with cool shades in 2020, start thinking about grays with warm shades and hints of green. Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams has warm tones, but reads cool in certain lighting, like cloudy days. It creates a zen look, and who doesn’t want to feel that when they come home?
If you think we’ve moved away from beige before, think again. Beautiful beige is hard to beat! The beige of 2021 is still hot, but without the yellow tendency. It is thin and almost white in different lights. Therefore, we recommend affordable Beige as the leading color of 2021. And if you scroll through Instagram, you will notice that almost all blogs use a warm, beige filter now. By chance? We don’t think so.
Accentuating Exterior Trim Colors For Beige Houses To Create A Well Coordinated Look
We see it growing in popularity with blue and green as accent colors. Colors like Boothbay Gray and Pearl are calm but interesting. We are definitely here for the trend. Use these colors on shutters or doors. Combine it with a creamy white base paint and beautiful greens, like topiary trees.
While it’s not really possible to install a metal bottle, we think Sherwin Williams does a great job with Urbane Bronze. This trendy outdoor color is even better when you pair it with real brass, like brass porch lights or patio furniture.
Recently we have seen an increase in the level of subdivision, farm and modern design. The projected path points in the direction of a design with two complementary colors. Think of two tones, which go well together… maybe one on the top and one on the bottom, or one on the side and one in the middle. By 2021, most of your homes will embrace the look.
There has been a resurgence of dark gray, almost black, outside the home. Who isn’t a fan of dark, charcoal, grays? This trendy color is having its moment, but it’s also such a classic. Some of our favorite dark grays include Benjamin Moore’s Wrought Iron and a more subdued green tone, Benjamin Moore’s Bracken Slate.
How To Choose Paint Colors: 12 Pro Tips And 5 Mistakes To Avoid
While black as an accent color is certainly not new, it is still popular. However, a few brave owners started to use it as the main color of their home. In the house above, a black and gray color palette is used: Iron Mountain by Benjamin Moore on the brick and shaker facade, Onyx by Benjamin Moore on the vertical side, and Black by Benjamin Moore on the trim and face. Darkening the outside of your home will give you that edge over the neighbors.
Not everyone can immediately imagine what the color of the dye looks like, but we think that after 2021 this may change. This color is starting to become one of the most popular exterior paint colors. Although we don’t know what caused the sudden increase in popularity, we do know that the good looks and features of natural wood are here to stay. The house above uses two types of James Hardie siding, both in Aged Pewter.
Make no mistake, painting is a game changer; however, if you can stain or add wood to the outside of your home, by all means do it! In 2021 there will be a push towards earthy shades and natural elements. Wood is the perfect way, in large or small doses, to embrace the habit.
We always recommend sampling and testing paint colors before committing. Factors such as natural light, shades and permanent features of your property will have a significant impact on how the color will appear on your exterior. Our friends at Sampleize offer large 9 x 14.75 inch paint samples of our favorite outdoor colors. Order your “Real Paint, No Mess” samples from Sampleize here.
Benjamin Moore’s Hush Is The Perfect Beige Paint Color
Looking for a way to add style in 2021? Add some extra trim around your windows and paint them a nice white. Soft white trim can look great in a dark-colored house or even with a light color for a more monochromatic look. Don’t be nervous about using this look around white or black windows.
When blue and gray meet, great things happen. Slate green is calm, and reads like a special neutral. This color is perfect for the homeowner who wants to show a little personality without straying too far from traditional neutrals. Slate Blue is one of those colors that comes in many different varieties, so we highly recommend testing several samples. Pay attention to how the slate’s color changes look at different times of the day and under different cloud levels.
Like slate, navy is one of those colors that stands out the most. Some look blue and fit into the realm of royalty. For outdoor purposes, I recommend a neutral navy blue, like Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy. It works on beach bungalows, historic homes and mid-century modern homes. There aren’t too many rules when working with navy blue!
The green color is a color that takes thought before making, so we recommend that you hire an exterior designer, such as brick and batten, to create a realistic rendering of how your home will look with this color inspired by my mother. The earthy green works mainly as an accent color, but we see some houses that attract the body. James Hardie completed the look with Neighborhood Park above.
The Best White Exterior Paint Colors
For buyers who want to show personality on the outside of their home, pinks and greens seem to be the colors for front doors. Recently, we’ve seen more homeowners choose pink as a statement door color instead of yellow or red. If it’s green, we highly recommend a color like Greyhound by Benjamin Moore, printed on the door above.

Don’t take our word for it. Here’s what one of our previous customers had to say about their experience with brick and batten (as posted on Houzz):
I cannot say enough things about this company. We had him do our virtual outdoor design a few months ago and were able to implement a decent amount of feedback (he’s a great fixer, so we took our time!). We were stopped by several neighbors who admired the change. , ask us where we got our numbers, how we came up with the colors, etc. Their product was exactly what we expected, their professionalism and responsiveness was incredible. They really helped point our house in the right direction, answered countless questions (because I’m not a color or design expert by any means!!) coming up). I’m so glad we did this, we will love her designs forever and can’t wait to add everything!!! They have transformed our eyes into something we absolutely love. Thanks Brick & Batten
